More than one kind of 'clown' at my LFS

I recently went to my usual LFS to get some more food, and of course checked out the loach situation. They had some kuhlis and clowns. I almost got a few of the kuhlis, but decided not to, at which point one of the newer employees tried to help. He suggested that I get a few clown loaches. I told hi...

I have this exACT same thing in two of my tanks. In one of them, I have an air pump going full blast as well as a filter that moves the equivalent volume of 10 of the tanks it is in per hour. In the other one, it is worse, and there is not as much water movement, but in a third tank, the bioload is ...

My betta's feces usually come out in a soft-serve ice cream shape, but after he ate a bunch of daphnia, it came out in a whitish cloud.

My goldfish sometimes has floating poo with air bubbles in it...not sure why.

Eeew, but a wonderful idea! I tried to get a bunch of algae to grow in a tank to fuel my snail farm. I loaded it with garden fertilizers but it took forever, and is mostly green water...Now I know 8) . You can always try it with the asparagus I wonder if eating beets would have any nutritional effec...

My kuhlis do still find their way into my filter occasionally, but they usually are easy to slip out. Holy crap!!! You need to put Squishy in a straightjacket in a nice padded box! That is the most accident-prone loach ever. He's even a bad influence on his tankmates! Since you will probably never p...

Darn! I missed all the action! If it's not too late, I'd like to add something. When I first got coconut shells, I was so scared of what they might do that I boiled them until the water actually was clear. That took at least 20 boilings:roll: and I scraped off all the fibers on the outside. My PH is...

I, too use coconut shell halves, covered with java moss. Everyone likes them, and I use a screwdriver to chip away an entrance.

Sorry MTS- As I was typing, I thought my description of the light thing would be misleading but I didn't change it. The light itself is not getting wet at all, it is the clear plastic window below that is getting dampened by the spray from the airstone bubbles. Also, I once accidentally filled the t...

 sniffle sniffle...so sorry to hear about the kuhli. I'm scared my 3 year old goldfish will die because that's the longest I've ever had a fish, which is reallly sickening, but he was just the first fish to be purchased after I started reading. Now, they don't die anymore, while my first guppy ...

Couple o' questions for y'all

I have a few questions: 1. I am thinking of upgrading to a 40 or 55 gallon tank, in which I would have some plants, community fish and of course Loaches! Is there any reason using sand would not work in this case? what kind is best for plants? 2. My cories and loaches will love the sand, but is it t...
