Re: Greenish/Whitish "Spot" On My Pleco's Nose?

Thank you both for your replies. :) Sorry it took me a while to get back to you.
I suppose I was just overreacting. He does often root around in the gravel, so it's really not surprising that he got a rub on his nose. It hasn't turned into anything worse, so that must be all it is.

Greenish/Whitish "Spot" On My Pleco's Nose?

Hi, A short while ago while feeding my fish, I noticed what appears to be a whitish/greenish coloured "spot" on my large pleco's nose area. I'm pretty sure it is new, but I don't often get to take a good look at him as he is usually hiding (except at feeding time or when the aquarium lights are off)...

Well, I've been giving him water changes every day like you suggested (in his hospital tank), and still giving him Melafix. I really can't get back to the fish store to get a water reading since it is hours away, and I don't have one of those test kits... I'm going to try to either get one over the ...

Well, the spots don't jump out as "bumpy" or "fuzzy" really... they're hard to describe. However, I noticed that they are worse on the upper (closest to head) area of his body, and they gradually lessen down his back, but are still visible. They are 'milky' whitish (and almost 'film' like?) in color...

"White Spots" on my Weather Loach: What might this

I recently purchased two new Weather Loaches (both from the same store; same tank). The tank conditions were quite poor, however they both seemed perfectly fine when I bought them, and for the forthcoming week or so. About six days ago I lost one of my little guys, due to what appeared to be some so...

Thank you, I'm glad there are people like you who can actually understand my loss... People who don't actually KNOW a Dojo Loach in person just can't understand how special, unique and friendly they are. I could sit in front of my aquarium for hours upon hours (literally) and never become bored by a...

Thanks for the information, Tanja. So far, I really only know about Weather Loaches as they are the only type I have had the pleasure of keeping so far. My three little dust mops (their barbels make them appear as dust mops =) can brighten up my day the second I look at them. Their cute little trick...

Aww.
Pangio oblonga is another term for "Weather Loach", correct?
They are definetely my favourite types of Loach. So very cute and interactive.
Nice picture.

Yes... I thought we might be able to save him too. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. :( I really appreciate your efforts to help me/him, though. Needless to say, I don't think I will be adding any 'new' fish to my aquarium for a while... in the meantime, I'll enjoy the ones I have, and do all I c...

Hey there, thanks for taking the time to check up on him... As of last night, I had noticed some white/greyish "spots" on his skin, which covered his back, his sides... basically everywhere. His fins and tail were also beginning to fray and turn a "copper" color... I wasn't sure as to exactly what w...

Diana - Thank you ever so much for all of your helpful information/advice, I appreciate it. I am planning on upgrading to a larger tank in the near future, so perhaps the one I have now can become my Q-tank. I will also take your advice on reading about Loach parasites, as I really don't know...

Hi there, Of course. I realized shortly afterwards that it was rather foolish of me to leave those details out. The pH is always kept between 6.0 and 8.0, as that is what I have been told is most ideal for loaches of this particular species. The temperature is kept between 50 and 60 F to satisfy my ...
