Thanks alot Nonn! The tank wil have quite a bit of current, it is being custom made so I do not know the exact velocity yet but I will post this info when its complete. I will do small percentage water changes as you suggest and keep the water clean and fast. I will post pictures, when I can, of the...

I think I will have to go with 8,10,12 as my favorites! A Schistura sp. I currently have that I have been unable to identify has a spotted pattern similar to #10, unfortunatley I have been unable to get a clear picture yet.

Schistura balteata tank setup

Last month I aquired a group of Schistura balteata that are now about ready to come out of the quarrantine tank. At last count I have 8 plus one S. kohchangensis and one other Schistura sp. I have been unable to ID. The kohchangensis came mixed with the balteata and the unknown in a group of garra a...

Thanks folks,
At the time it looked a bit like the Loach pictured in the Botia unknown 3 species entry. However now that you say almorhae I think I agree. A nice loach just the same! I will transport him over to the B. almorhae tank this afternoon. Thanks all again!

Possible Botia unknown 3?????

Good evening all, Last week I picked up three Loaches that I assumed were B. histrionica. These were drop offs and as such the only fish in the tank. After having them at home for a week now it seems to me that one and possibly two of them are not histrionica but perhaps Botia unknown 3. I managed t...

Native fishes in Sask.

Good afternoon, I just thought I had better point out to soul-hugger that collecting native fish species for aquarium use is illegal in Saskatchewan. You can sometimes get a collection permit from your local Sask. Environment fisheries biologist. I work for Sask. Environment in the summers and as su...

Good evening,
I live in Regina and am always on the lookout for Hillstreams. I have a couple river tanks up and running presently. What species is this fish? Was it healthy? What store is it in and where? Thanks.

Well $12-$15 is quite a bit cheaper than $50.00, perhaps the price reflects there rarilty in stores here. Thanks all once again for the speedy replies!

RD. - I agree with your last statement completely. I have also spoken to Mark about this same issue and met with a brick wall as with most things Petland. We used to order fish a year or so ago directly from an asian supplier and the fish were excellant in quality and resonably priced. Now we use Bu...

The booming city of Bengough haha! I test net a few reservoirs near there through my summer job with fisheries as well as hunt Mule deer around there once in a wile. I do try my best to give good advice at the store especially when it comes to Loaches and I do have a few of the Loaches Online poster...

OK, thanks for the replies Mick and Helen. I think I will hold off on these this time as the price seems a little high. I will focus on expanding my B. histronica group instead. I currently have 7 of these (with 6 Barilius barna and a few Garra sp.) and I can find them once in a wile for roughly hal...

I beleive these would be roughly 3 or 4 inches accoding to the supplier. How does the British Pound compare to the Canadian Dollar at present?

I work part time at a fish store in Regina Sask. and we have recently recieved some extremely small clowns from our Florida supplier. The suppliers company name is Buzzbee and generally speaking the fish are very poor quality. I suspect they use growth hormones as the fish they sell are often extrem...

Price of Botia kubotai

For the last few months I have been waiting for Botia kubotai to show up on the availability list at the pet store where I work. At last they have appeared! However the 'cost' value of these is $11.99!!!! That puts them at roughly $50.00 retail. So I was just wondering what the rest of the world pay...
