I have a hillstream living in my shrimp tank. He gets awfully grumpy when the shrimp climb on "his" rock, but I've never seen him do more than chase them away.cloudhands wrote:
I haven't tried any shrimp with the hillstreams yet.

Kelly,
There is a great website called http://www.plantedtank.net that you might find helpful if you're just getting started with plants. Be careful, planted tanks are addicting!

Quarantine Procedure
I am wondering if some of the experienced forum members could describe their quarantine procedure for new fish. How long do you quarantine? Do you use prophylactic medication? If yes, which one(s)? I finally have a dedicated QT tank and I want to know how to properly use it. I actually set up a QT t...

Some days my loaches go crazy for veggies. Zucchini, sweet potato and broccoli have all been very popular. But other days they turn up their little noses at them. I got lots of clicking from my Zebras the first time I put in zucchini. But when I gave them another piece a few days later, they were co...

Me too, same problem. I thought I did my due diligence before purchasing, but I was wrong. I have seven nippy chain loaches who are harassing my other fish. I am trying to find a new home for them, in the hopes of putting this fishy fiasco behind me. My heartless fiance saw them picking on his favor...

Dwarf Chain Loaches For Sale Or Trade, Will Ship (UPDATED)
I have 7 Dwarf Chain Loaches that need a new home. They're very cute, but also very hyper, and they've been nipping at some of my other fish. They're not aggresive, just overly playful. I wish I could keep them, but I'm concerned about the welfare of my other fish. Read my recent post for more detai...

10g is too small. What other fish are in the 46g tank? I The Sids are really bugging my Blue Ram pair and my Pearl Gourami, who is quite large, but also slow and docile. The female Blue Ram looks particularly miserable. It's only a theory, but I think that all the activity in the tank is stressing ...

What To Do With My Crazy Sids
About six weeks ago I added seven Sids to my community tank. I thought I'd done enough research, but I somehow neglected to absorb the fact that they are crazy, hyperactive, little maniacs. Unfortunately, their antics seem to be stressing out some of my more placid fish. Also, at least one of them h...

Loaches for Planted Tank (warning: newbie question!)
Hi Loach People, I have a planted 46 gallon tank that's currently stocked with a pair of Blue Rams, 5 Neons, and 6 Clown Killies. I would really like to add a small school of loaches. I've been looking at B. Striata. Is a 46 gallon large enough to accomodate 5 - 6 adults? Would Sids be a better choi...
