Clint, I've never tried that, but I will now! They aren't eating much, so now would be a good time to introduce something like that and see how they like it. They flip over cucumber! I think the cloudy water is from the water being off balance and the chemicals to treat the cloudy eye. I've been tol...

Well, we are about a week after switching tanks and the clowns are finally coming out of the cave and swimming with the current of the filter. They are looking better, so I'm crossing my fingers and knocking on wood. I finally started treating with Maracyn2 because the MarOxy did not cure the eye cl...

Thanks Diana. I will leave the PH alone from now on. He is still alive and still eating. :)

The clowns are looking better, but their eyes are still cloudy. I just finished the MarOxy treatment. I may use Maracyn 2 to help clear up the eyes.

soul-hugger, I am just now seeing this response. I am trying to think of anything I changed and the only thing that comes to mind is the PH level. Everything had been going so well, and then when one of my fish became ill I had my water tested and was told I needed to reduce PH. I guess that could h...

I posted about this in the health forum, but haven't received any responses. Do any of you know what to do when the nitrites are high and my fish are stressed? I'm afraid of losing the clowns. They have white on the tip of their lips (two of them) which I am pretty sure wasn't there before. They're ...

That's really funny. My clowns don't hide as much. They come to the glass and greet me when I stoop down to check on them. Especially at feeding time! :) They are 9 years old though, so maybe they're just used to me, and I have 4 of them. I know they like to be in groups of 4 to 6.

Clowns ill after tank change

I moved up from a 55 to a 75 gallon tank. Used the same water from the old tank, but new rock. My clowns have cloudy eyes and are very lethargic. They aren't eating (day 2). They don't come out of their hiding places unless I make them by moving the driftwood and other structure. They aren't stickin...

High PH

Would the excess slime coat make the clowns eyes cloudy? All four of them have cloudy eyes right now and as I said before I'm treating for fungus just to be sure they don't have a fungus. My weather loach has had eye cloud for a little while now, so no harm in treating the tank. Curious - what can I...

I am treating the tank with melafix, as I have noticed quite a few of the fish have a stringy film on them. I'm guessing the stress allowed them all to pick up a fungus. Since Melafix works on eye cloud I hope it will solve all problems. I will work very hard to stop using the carbon and ammo. I app...

I may know what my problem is with plants. I have always used carbon in the filter. I read that the carbon kills the plants - robs them of beneficial nutrients. I've been thinking about removing carbon alltogether on Diana's recommendation, I'm just hesitant. It's hard to change something you've bee...

We did it! We set up the new tank last night, and although it's gorgeous I couldn't sleep last night for thinking "What have I done?" I was having anxiety attacks over the size of the 75 in comparison to the 55. I love it, but I guess I am just afraid I may have over done it a little. Over time I kn...

Soul-hugger, I may take your plant advice and try a few since I have all this new room to fill :) I am definitely looking for easy care, so I can slowly ease into plant keeping. How about moss balls? They look so interesting in the pet stores. Do you know if they are easy to care for? My best friend...

We made our purchase and decided on the 75 gallon rectangular tank. My husband isn't a fan of the bow front and I want it to be something we both like. He wasn't a fan of the 75 gallon size either (we currently have a 55), but the fishies need more room! I'm amazed at how that huge glass structure j...

SidtheMonkey, the size difference is very slight. 48x18x22 for the Bowfront and 48x18x20 on the rectangular, so with only a 2" difference I can't imagine it would make it much harder to clean and care for.

Is there a good site that gives pictures of what some of the diseases look like? I've googled freshwater fish disease images and tried to find something that looks close, but haven't had much luck.
