Re: My First Bowl Show with Pictures
I really want to start keeping shrimp. They seem pretty cool! Once I upgrade my 30 gallon I will combine the 2 10's and then I have those tanks free. I think I will use one for shrimp, and put my smaller tetras in there too- only have a small school of them. I can then use my 16 gallon as a female b...

Re: DROPSY!!
Yes- That is what I have heard. I posted this on another forum too, and nobody has had too much luck saving their betta after the dropsy was noticed.

DROPSY!!
Unfortunately, one of my female HMPK bettas has dropsy- I only noticed it this now, and I check them a lot. She is bloated, and her scales are just starting to stand out. She has her own 5 gallon heated tank, and the others were taken out a while ago. All others are fine. I have been reading that at...

Re: farlowella catfish
Yeah- my bettas just seem to see something, and decide to go bite it. They are pretty smart- swimming through little hoops made from airline tubing.

Re: farlowella catfish
 I can't imagine having a puffer bite me- they do have teeth! That is like my female bettas- they just attack me!! When I did a water change the first time, a bunch of them just swam up to me, and bit me! Doesn't hurt or anything, but it makes you jump!!The first one who bit me is named Siamese...

Re: Tetracycline Treatment for Fin Rot?
Yes, you can use it for fin rot, but if you do use it you must use a hospital tank. It kills all of the nitrogen cycle bacteria.

Re: FIN ROT
Fin rot can be either bacterial or fungal, or both. Bacterial generally causes more ragged, and uneven rotting. Fungal causes more even rotting, and sometimes produces a white edge. Sometimes it is both, together. It sounds like you have the bacterial fin rot- the common one. I use the fungus clear,...

Re: farlowella catfish
Me too! My plecos would let me hold them if I tried- I am sure! I like having the bettas around too. They will swim on top of my hand when I hold it near the surface, and gently (that is new!) take food from my fingers. The little guys are so cute!

Re: Columnaris (Flexibacter columnaris) how to treat?
Maracyn II should work. Aquarium salt is supposed to work with columnaris too. If you have a QT tank, it is best to move the affected fish to that. You can should also lower the water temp to 74-76*.
