Re: another newbie looking for information
I literally had no idea there was such thing as an African loach.

Re: Need help IDing a loach
If the guys sold you that thinking it was a yoyo loach and described another fish as 'an eel thing' i'd seriously consider using another store the next time.

Re: 125 gal Loach Lounge
Loaches are addictive little creatures i bet you're glad to be back into it. Reading through this thread the tank looked wonderful. I'm sure i even saw a Histrionica in there somewhere? The Striatas were beautiful too. Update us to let us know what you decide on, and post some more pictures. Good lu...

Re: New Histrionicas, but...
I've been watching them closely and it's clear the markings are slightly different on this fella. He's more withdrawn and stays out of the way most of the time and rarely joins the histie madness at dinner time. I'm beginning to wonder if this is a rogue kubotai. I'd have thought they would group to...

I'd definitely put more loaches in there. A few more won't make much difference to the over all stocking and you'd have happier loaches.

Re: Hi from a new user. and not certain what these are..
They look like Botia Histrionica to me, but when they are that size its quite difficult to tell. There isn't, as far as i'm aware too much of a difference in behaviour and they live sympatrically in the wild. Nice fish, iv'e just got a new group myself.

New Histrionicas, but...
Bought a group of four Histies today to add to my one who was on his own. Nice group of five but one of the new additions has only got one eye! Is this going to cause a premature death? This particular fish isn't settling either, he's darting up and down the tank and is not joining the others. Does ...

Botia histrionica sourcing issues
I'm finding it difficult to get a hold of these in the UK. Local places and even crowland maidenhead aquatics haven't got them at the moment. Is there some sort of supply issue from Burma/Thailand at the minute? Or on this species alone? I have one extremely lonely histrionica that needs some pals. ...

Botia Histrionica Breeding?
Anyone managed to breed these or at least had them show signs of spawning?
I'd be interested to hear how people have attempted to do this. How would a tank setup be? as close to natural habitat as possible or a bare dark tank?
Please tell us if you have had any success!

Re: Hillstream Biotope - Loaches and..?
White clouds are usually what people have aswell as hillstream loaches. I have saw people use various barbs also. Can't remember which ones, may have been gold barbs?

Re: Hello, and some biotope questions
Yeah i saw that website it is quite good. It's the only decent one i have found unfortunately. At the moment the Loaches are doing really well and are enjoying the Vallis jungle. At present i have the temperature at around 27-28 degrees. I'm finding that this temperature is a little bit too warm for...

Re: Hello, and some biotope questions
Wasn't planning on keeping hillstreams. Tank setup wouldn't be right. I do fancy keeping them in the future though. Panda Garr? i literally had no idea about them before you mentioned that. Seem like nice fish, but i think i'll only keep the histrionica in this setup. Would Histrionica share waters ...
