Re: Betta Experts
Hi again. The betta has been doing WONDERFULLY in his enclosure and I attribute the health and beauty to the warmth of the tank water. I can't let him go in the tank as much as I'd love to because the clown loaches will view his fins as a meal and his fins will get caught on decorations. He stays sa...

Re: New home, new water
Water changes became a bigger pain in the a-- because I couldn't attach the Python directly to the new faucet. So I had to get a water pump and fill the bucket in the sink with the pump suctioning out the water. It takes an extra ten-fifteen minutes to complete a water change now. I have silver doll...

Re: New home, new water
As I said Nancy, the pH out of my TAP is also low--same as tank, so it's not just the nitrates that are lowering pH. I'm also aware of trying to keep the nitrates below 20 ppm. At my old house, our tap did not need chlorination, but interestingly the tap had 10 ppm of nitrates flowing.

Re: New home, new water
I should add that the water, according to the test strip, is very soft and "total alkalinity" is moderate to ideal.

New home, new water
Hi. I've been in my new home for approximately 3 months. Had the fish professionally moved and it went flawlessly. I did a big water change before the move always siphoning gravel and four more since I've been here. This week I lost my yoyos--two. Found them as I started a water change yesterday. Lo...

Re: New loach owner here and Question
Hillstreams are cooler temp loaches, but I believe they like a lot of water current. Not sure if that is good for the weather loaches, and don't think the goldfish will be too happy with a heavy current either. Look it up and see what you find out.

Re: SURPRISE--MY CLOWN DIED
Not to beat a dead horse, but the tank was back up and running for a two good weeks, it was only then that I saw the behavior change. Though two loaches showed signs of stress around the second week after the power outage, they had a a good week once they were treated with the flakes and the Kordon....

Re: SURPRISE--MY CLOWN DIED
Thank you everyone. You would think an entire tank would suffer if it were experiencing the things you're all suggesting. Ah well, thank you for comments. Appreciate the feedback.

SURPRISE--MY CLOWN DIED
I know this subject has been discussed before. I just want to share my disappointment. Beginning Feb., when we had the blizzard in New England (USA), my tank went down to 70 degrees. I had a battery operated airstone in the entire time. When the power came on a couple days later, the tank temp slowl...
