Well done! That's great news.
Much better than taking him to the LFS and him being sold into an unsuitable situation.
He will hopefully have a long and happy life with his new friends!
You did the best thing possible.

I noticed there are no replies.
Maybe take your loach to the Local Fish Shop (LFS) or advertise it on Aquarist Classified, being sure to mention Manchester in your free ad title e.g. "Free Clown Loach in Manchester".

Re: Unknowingly, I seem to have violated most of the rules..
I would respectfully disagree. My undergravel filters have served me well and are at least adequate (no disease or problems in 17 years of use). They are vacuumed weekly. This is how I remove fish wastes from the aquarium. The water is clear and Nitrates are 5ppm. If the "poop" is in the canister, i...

Re: How old is your oldest Loach?
This is fantastic! To find others with fish this old and older is like finding the rest of my tribe after being lost in the wilderness. Thanks for posting. So I resuscitated an old thread? The posts above prove it is a current thread. Is there a greater accomplishment in our hobby? Moderator - This ...

Re: Unknowingly, I seem to have violated most of the rules..
Well of course 30g would never be recommended these days, but I was actually recommended this size before I decided on 90g myself (and even this is smaller than optimum). I say congratulations! Because keeping fish to 20 years old is a rare and special achievement. How many millions have died in aqu...

Re: Clown loaches fighting
I only ever had one problem with fighting in my shoal of seven Clown Loaches. I realised it was one particular fish. This fish was the third largest and it put on a growth spurt and started to challenge the dominant fish. It started biting the others harshly and upsetting the harmony which had exist...

Re: Spiky Stripes
Thankyou for sharing this lovely picture Emma. Also, thankyou for raising the profile of the Clown Loach and also for educating people about the conditions needed to keep them through the excellent Practical Fishkeeping Magazine, which I subscribe to. It is through this magazine that I found the exc...

How old is a 1.5" Clown Loach?
Hi, I recently realised that I have had my Clown Loaches for 16 years (where did the time go?) but that they are probably a little older than that. To work out their true age I need to know how old they were when I got them. So how old would you say my loaches were when I purchased them at 1.5 inche...

Re: Clown loachs
Hi, just found my way back LOL! I love sand but not in my Loach tank as I have undergravel filters. I may revert to a lighter coloured gravel sometime in the future. I dig my earthworms from known pesticide-free ground. The loaches get excited by them. They are able to eat small to medium ones but w...

Re: Clown loachs
Feed a varied diet of quality foods. Mine eat Dainichi pellets, prawns, earthworms, spirulina and other quality flakes, bloodworm, peas, quality granules etc. Something not to be overlooked is the substrate colour. After tiring of my old gravel I spent ages researching and splashing out on smooth bl...

Re: Loach Community Tank Suggestions Needed
Mine's a 6ft x 18 x 18 of 80 -90 gallon and I accept that even this is too small to be an ideal home for my six Clowns.

Re: My Loach Tank - w. 10" Loaches
Wow, what a privelege to see your Clowns.
It's so great to see what others have achieved/are achieving.
Mine have maxed out at 6" at 15 years old in 6ft x 18 x 18.
Edit: They are Still growing, just measured them and the females are now 8".

Re: How old is your oldest Loach?
Please pass me a comment if you read this, thanks. Just took some pics of some of my six Clowns in my 6ft x 18" x 18" carefully planned community. I bought all six (2f 6" and 4m 4.5") 15 years ago and they get on great with everybody. I know I don't have everything perfect (I have algae and my new B...

Re: Whats the biggest clown loach you have?
I started with my 6' x 18" x 18" and have 6 Clown Loaches 15 years old. My largest two are 6" and I presume female. The other four are 4.5" and I presume male. The largest two have always been the largest and have always got along. http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh204/redshark1/tn_ClownLoachChro...

Re: Hillstream Loaches Where to get them?
I have an 8 year old Hillstream. I will try to ID it.
I'm posting to warn that the other two climbed out of the tank and dessicated so you may need to ensure they cannot do this.
All the best.
