When doing our regular fish-drooling at an LFS, we found two clowns, one of them slightly bigger than the ones we have, and one that's quite larger. We've reserved them so we can put them in the q-tank as soon as we have the 450 up and running, with all the current loaches in it. Can't wait!!! http:...

Have you tried tubifex? I don't own any moosefaces, but our loaches go crazy when we feed them with it.

I might be able to get more pics, but I don't know the owner. It does indeed looks like a Striata, but with differences. It also has a crooked back, but didn't have any complications from it.

Help with Loach identification

This picture popped up at a Swedish forum, and she wanted to know what it is. She said the she'd been googling on tigers, and suspected that it was some sort of tiger. It looks a bit like an S. Berdmorei, but I'm not 100% convinced that it is.

We're facing this problem soon. Someone told us that the tanks should be the last thing to get moved, and she said that she put the fishes in a bucket, moved the tank, started with Nitrivec (filter bacteria), and put them in. the filter should survive, so I don't think you need to cycle the tank aga...

Martin.
That's disgustingly clever. I tried growing some, but all I got was brown, no green algae.

I'm not 100% about this, but I suspect a bacterial infection.

Edit: Just saw the last part you wrote. I'd treat with some sort of antibiotic. Need another opinion on this one though

I haven't tried it myself, but Waterlife has a pH 6.5 buffer, which buffers the water to 6.5 automatically. With your soft water, it might work.

Okay, thanks. I'd love to be brave enough to get a Fluval FX5, but I'm a bit of a sissy when it comes to canisters :S

Just wanted to share another pic of the Pterygoplichthys Joselimaianus that's going in the tank http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk281/Bygde/DSC08419kopiera.jpg He's such a little cutie :D Hard to think that he'll grow bigger than the clowns! Edit: Thought I'd ask again, is it worth the extra cash...

That's a good idea actually. I guess I could put the canister in a bucket as well, so small leaks won't be a risk. Still, I'd be a bit worried. Also canisters are pretty expensive, at least for our tank-size.

I just thought about it. Is it better to get a complementary filter, or a powerhead (for current only)? I plan to get strong powerheads later, but what I'm asking is, will it be worth getting a filter, or should I get a powerhead instead?
