Clown Loach Compatibility
Are clown loaches best kept by themselves or are there other loaches that will coexist nicely with them? If so, which?
Re: Clown Loach Compatibility
They don't meet any other loaches in nature.
On Borneo one can find Pangio, no further loaces, but Pangio prefer other circumstances.
Whether they can be combined with otrher loaches? I wonder. After al, they can be agressive amongst themselves, and they are the largest of the Botinae we normally can find. So, combining them with for instance Y modesta might give troubles if they swim in one group.
I'd stick to just clown loaches.

Re: Clown Loach Compatibility
In my opinion they are best in a good group of their own kind. To add other fish is to complicate matters and compromise the Clown Loaches. Keeping it simple has been the secret to success for me. We are lucky to have a large colourful easy to keep fish that is so compatible with other group members.
6 x Clown Loaches all 30 years of age on 01.01.2024, largest 11.5", 2 large females, 4 smaller males, aquarium 6' x 18" x 18" 400 ltr/90 uk gal/110 US gal. approx.

Thank you, appreciate feed back. The more I read, I tend to agree, plus nothing looks better than 20-30 clowns all swimming together.

For ages I had just clown loach, 20odd. I've just added tiger barbs and the clowns love them. Unexpected but lots of fun.
