Sewelia lineolata

Post by exasperatus2002 » Thu Mar 29, 2012 10:53 pm

Hi

I managed to pick up a pair of S. lineolata. I asked the distributor (Anubias Design) to pick out a pair for me. I do see the dimorphism between my two individuals. I've had for 2 months now in my 55 gallon riffle tank. the temperature is 73*F. The tank is beside a south facing window. Substrate is 1/3 pebble, 2/3 sand. Back of tank is painted black. I have abundant green algae growth and I also feed, flake, bloodworms, brine shrimp & grated shrimp (from the seafood counter). Tank mates are North American natives. Banded darters, Orange Throat darters and a couple fatheads that I initially cycled the tank with. Today, my pair spent atleast 20 minutes on top of a flat rock in the middle of the tank dancing around each other. With one of them trying to get the other to go down between the rock & the back of the tank. Here are two video clips. Does it look like a territorial dispute or courtship? It must have been atleast 20 minutes of this. They were doing it when I sat down to eat dinner, & ignored everything else goin on like my 4 yr old daughter hanging on the tank to watch & when I fed the tank after my dinner was done.

It looks more like a territorial dispute to me.
