Cleaning those hard to reach places...

Post by Jim Powers » Mon Mar 06, 2006 8:50 pm

I have been thinking about a way to clean the gravel in my tanks without having to move all the rocks around. This would be particularly useful in my river tanks. So, I came up with this.
I took my Python and removed the cleaning end.
Then I took a length of 1/2" diameter rigid plastic tube, put the strainer from a Magnum filter intake on the end and secured with a plastic cable tie. I then shoved the rigid tube into the Python flexible tube until it fits snuggly. The Python can be used normally except it can squeeze between, and under the rocks and clean out pockets of dirt. Now all I need to do is find a way to improve the fit between the flexible and rigid tubing. Even with the fit not as snug as I would like, it does a good job.
