Quick ways to cycle tank?

Post by SidtheMonkey » Sun Mar 21, 2010 2:18 pm

I havent cycled a tank from scratch in more than a decade. I've been away from fish for about 4 yrs, but even before then, I cycled tanks with media from other tanks. It went painlessly.

So now I've got a 5.5 gal set up with a betta, heater, power filter, & live plants.

I'd like to add some pygmy or panda cories and an otto or 2.

There's alot of new stuff out there now...anything reliable for jumpstarting cycling?

(I saw a new substrate advertised, wondered if that really worked, but already have gravel in there)

Do you know anyone who has a tank? you could swish their filter mech pad in your tank and jump start the cycle that way. Its what i did and had my 90g cycled in 2 weeks.
