Re: Tanichthys thacbaensis-new white cloud species
One of our suppliers started listing a new wild-caught minnow last week, but he just called it Lemon White Cloud Mountain Minnow (Tanichthys sp. 'lemon'). The pic he sent was a bit blurry and just looked like a washed out regular white cloud. No idea if these are the new species you mention or not?

Some of the online fish suppliers have listed this and the word is that it is Tanichthys thacbaensis which is supposedly a new species from Vietnam. I have yet to find a pic of the species.

I've heard that the images are of little help, but would still love to see that paper! Think all the fish in the link you posted are T. micagemmae though Graeme?

Yeah, think they probably are. Emma has ordered a few of the Lemon Tanichthys for next week, so we'll try for pics then.

The Tanichthys 'lemon' did not turn up. Most probably because I ordered too many loaches and there wasn't room in the box! Will try again next time.

my try is going on by now, Emma. If you look at the lists it's not a shame to order to many loaches and bettas. hope I didn't do the same "error".

That is a beauty!
Re: Tanichthys thacbaensis-new white cloud species
nice looking specimen indeed, Jim.
But all in all: regarding the fact that the "yellow" tanichthys on the stock lists have never been delivered to Emma or to Germany is not a good answer to the question if t. thacbaensis or not. the fact that two pics are to be seen of the "new" species, once as t. sp "yellow", once as t. thacbaensis (on a website with no reference and a certain lack of know-how on the genus - the question is not anlbonubes or not - , on the other hand pretending to have "informations" on details as temperature) make me think somebody is taking us around. in any case it's not the way it works in commercial trade.
t. micagemmae show a certain range of different colouring during growth and natural "long-finned" specimen are known.
I'm still waiting for the ordered Tanichthys yellow to judge.
cheers Charles

Re: Tanichthys thacbaensis-new white cloud species
I got these in through Singapore last year as lemon white clouds. The pic in the previous post was the right fish. I kept half a dozen for myself but haven't had a chance to set them up to spawn yet.
I got a list from an exporter in Viet Nam this week that lists both T. micagemmae and T. micagemmae sp. I'm hoping the latter will prove to be this fish and do plan to order it.

Tanichthys sp "Vietnam"
Hi all
the mistery about the "yellow" Tanichthys is solved. In AMAZONAS 41 Mai/June 2012 Ingo Seidel shows pics of the new species, pics of eggs and fry inclusive.
The species has been found by Mikael Hakànson/Imazo and Saigon Aquarium in 2009 Da Nang province in Vietnam. Specimen have been exported by Saigon Aquarium to Europe in 2010. The species is easy to breed, but no exports are to be expected furthermore.
The species is not identic with T. thacbaensis.
Seems Jörg Bohlen is at work for the description since 2010. So we are waiting.
Cheers Charles

Thanks for that update. I somehow missed that in Amazonas. I'll have to go back and look at that issue again.
