Clowns with eyes popping out?

Post by ey » Fri Aug 29, 2008 12:47 am

I recently added a second heater to the tank and over the course of 48 hours, I raised the temp up from 23oC to 27oC, I also noticed when feeding Hikari wafers to the clowns that, as they were fighting over the food, some of the larger clowns' eyes looked like popping out.

I'm just wondering if this is normal or is a sign of some form of disease?

I've never seen this on the clowns before.

Thanks

Just wanted to also add the fact that I have checked the water parameters and there were no Nitrite, no Ammonia, Nitrate 20, pH 0. I dont have the test kits for water hardness.

Did some research, and am hoping it is not the pop eye disease.....could the eyes be a result of the big clowns fighting?

Thanks for the reply.

No, the popping eyes are on the old clowns that I've had for almost 3 years now, they are around 12-14cm and only some of them have it after they fight each other for food.

The other medium clowns and the new baby clowns I got don't seem to have the same problem with their eyes.

You're positive you are seeing the eyes, and not the spines under the eyes? Do you have any pictures?

if it is pop eye it's not that hard to get rid of, there must be a bacterial build up in your tank.
do a 50% watere change and dose the tank with an anti-bacterial treatment you should see results within 2 or 3 days, within a short period your fish should be back to normal.
