Sick Zebra Loach

Post by av8or44 » Sun Dec 18, 2011 6:05 pm

Hi everybody, I thankfully just happened to come upon this website as I was dying to figure out what is wrong with my Zebra Loach(Botia Striata). Today I noticed that he is not really swimming around like he used to and he kinda lays on the gravel rocking back and forth on either of his sides. He also isn't eating and looks very skinny. I'm only vaguely familiar with skinny loach disease but do you think that it's possible that that is what he has. How can I treat him, he's such a unique fish to me I'd really hate to lose him...

Sure could be.
You could remove the sick fish to a hospital tank where you can better monitor him, and medicate through the full cycle of treatment for Skinny Disease. I would treat the whole tank for parasites, though. If that is part of the problem, all the fish have been exposed and may have a low level of parasites. Enough to re-infect this one.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!
