White Spot Again.

Post by yendor » Thu Mar 15, 2012 5:45 pm

Hello All,
One of my six Clown Loaches has again been infected with White Spot and the last time I treated the infection successfully with Protozin, however this time I am treating with Melafix as this will not affect the Bamboo Shrimps I have in my tank (so I am being told). Can someone advise me if Melafix is an effective treatment for White Spot and if not advise an alternative that will not kill my Bamboo Shrimps, or if I suspect have I got to remove the shrimps for the duration of the treatment using a more potent treatment than Melafix.
Thanks in advance.

Melafix will not do anything for Ich.

As far as I know, remove the shrimp and treat with what worked last time.

Do you know how they got infested again?
New fish- ALWAYS quarantine for a minimum of 1 month.
Did not run the last treatment out long enough? Keep the medication in the water for at least 3 days beyond the day you saw the last spot on the fish.
38 tanks, 2 ponds over 4000 liters of water to keep clean and fresh.

Happy fish keeping!
