asking for advise, Y. Nigrolineata or Sid´s? pictures

Post by wasserscheu » Fri Aug 10, 2007 1:29 pm

Kindly asking for advice once more, ... did my homework well, pic´s of each loach from left and right, some from the top  ... I bought them, as I was pretty sure they are Y. Nigrolineata (from what I have learned here, thanks btw). Got 5 of them, the only ones left at the store (they were kept single in different tanks). I forgot to measure them... I guess they are between 1" and 3.5cm - 4cm for the large one

The biggest one has an interrupted horizintal (at the tail) line on both sides. The others have all solid ones.

Their behavior ... they stay on the ground, in the beginning some were going for the current, but they currently are either playing on bottom, do some quarrel with each other, or hide in caves. They can stay an entire day in a hole and than can be out for an entire day.
They do not allow others of their kind to enter their hole.
They do school occasional. They act very inquiring towards other fish, they are not shy at all... very nice to watch, little energy packs. I hope the small ones soon make a bit more of a holesome figure, even some were looking starved and worne out, they still were expensive...

I like this "Moose-head"

Yep, I'd agree with Graeme! Very nice find Wolfram, I know you will enjoy these. 8) They are one of my favourite Botiines. I was tempted to add some to my river tank because of their wide temperature range, but decided against it in the hope that the Sewellias will continue to breed (and didn't want to add any more egg/fry munchers  ).

Very lucky. I have never seen these loaches on sale or in any collection around here. So I'll sit back green with envy.

Thanks for the nice replys. The most crazy thing is, that I got them when checking again for the EOS and the Y.Caudipunctata at that hardwarestore (my posting from a while ago). When checking the "sid´s" I noticed they may not be sid´s and bought them right away, as they are very rare in Munich to find (I had to drive their twice, as the evening shift did not know in which tanks they are spread, And I did not spot the small ones neither...).
BTW, I got the Caudipunctate also, will post their pics later, did not have such good light for the C.-Pic´s.as for the N´s ...
