I think they are a species of robber fly but that's just a guess. _________________ “Good bread is the most fundamentally satisfying of all foods; and good bread with fresh butter, the greatest of feasts.”

Keep 'em coming.
I don't want to post more until someone else posts something.
I'm getting some great fall bug shots this year so my collection is growing quickly! _________________ “Good bread is the most fundamentally satisfying of all foods; and good bread with fresh butter, the greatest of feasts.”

I don't want to post more in this thread unless there's at least one photo by someone else between my posts and I think I'm going to keep it at 1 shot per post. Let's keep this one going as long as possible.
I have some multiple shot groupings that I'll let have their own separate posts.

I guess I have no choice but to post this shot now.

How lucky some of you are to have mantises. I've looked and looked in all the right places, but I can't find any west of the North Shore range. _________________ Your vantage point determines what you can see. |

Slow down there, pardner! Save some for later.
Those amazing machines known as wasps!
I have no idea what these 3 are doing.

So rein me in
Here's a single waspie type of thing. Posted this a while back, but others will probably not have seen it.
This is certainly a piece of amazing natural machinery. A delicate drill-rig.

Amazing!
I've seen wasps like that but I've never had one hold still long enough to get photographed.
Took this one yesterday and since I'd already uploaded it for my butterfly group, I'll post it here, too.
