Forum Upgrades

You may have noticed that the Forums look a little different today… This weekend I upgraded the forum software to the latest release, mostly to take advantage of some new anti-spam features that should make life easier for your hardworking moderators. Alas, the silver-and-blue visual style we have grown accustomed to was not compatible with the latest software, so I had to find something new.

If you have any questions or comments on the new forum, please let me know.

There is one thing I'm missing, maybe I'm just to blind to find it: the button to get to the first unread post of a thread.

Hi Ingo,

Did the old forum have that option? (Was it a little icon that used to appear next to the list of threads on the forum main page, particularly when a topic spanned multiple pages?) If so, it might have vanished with this style, but if I know where to look, I can try to add it back in.

I think so. It really doesn't matter in what form it's acomplished, but I would really miss that function.

In the thread 'Icons Decoded'it is listed

- Go to last unread post in the thread

but it doesn't seem to appear in the list of threads.

Yeah, it's something about this visual template that makes that icon not show up. Let me compare this with the (otherwise uglier) default template, and see if I can add it back in.

Avatars were off by default, but I've turned them on now, and it looks like the old avatars were still in the system.

I added the "jump to the last unread message in post" button back into the template. You should see it next to the topic title. Let me know if it works for you, or if it's missing from any page where you used to find it.
