Beautiful tank and looks like it should be easy to maintain too. I'm thinking that the hair algae may lessen by itself as time goes by, perhaps as the plants grow and compete for the water's nutrients or something.

I hope it gets easier. I manually remove a lot of hair algae weekly. A friend had a similar problem with his river tank but that cleared up as the tank got settled.

Re: First Hillstream tank (loaches and Gobies)
3 of the 4 H.smithi has gotten fatter and are looking healthy. The other one is a bit slow when it comes to getting food.
The G.zebrinus comes out a lot more and is quite active.
The S.atropurpureus is still a bit pale but I'm seeing some flaring and bumping every now and then, and it has happened twice that there is a little 'burrow' made underneath some of the smaller flat rocks. I never see the making though.
I feed live maggots and bloodworm occasionally as well as veggie tablets and flakes.
The algae is becoming less and other types of algae is starting to grow.
I've added more rocks and made more hiding places as I will soon get a few Zipper loaches and I'm constantly looking out for more fish for this tank.

Thanks! The tank is getting in a better shape every week.
I want to stop dosing excel soon as I don't know if it's affecting Green Dust Algae growth badly.
And I'm still looking for more fish for the tank

Breaking news:
The one emaciated H.smithi which just wouldn't eat is gone - the other 3 are 100%.
New Fish:
3X Zipper loaches (Acanthocobitis botia)
1X Peppered loach (Lepidocephalichthys guntea) Spotted variety
FTS:
Nice community of weirdo's. Note the Peppered loach too.
Zipper loach (Acanthocobitis botia) chillin' on a rock
Homaloptera smithi chillin' on a moss and clado bush.
Stiphodon atropurpureus chillin' on an anubia leaf. This is the smallest one.

That's looking good!
Are you concerned the crab might torment or even eat some of the fish?

Thanks Jim.
The crab isn't bothering the fish yet. When it gets a bit bigger I'll have to get rid of it. It's still small.

Just a little rescape. I am currently treating the anubias for the BBA. It's already dead. Just need to get it off now.

Re: First Hillstream tank (loaches and Gobies)
I rescaped the tank and mad a new plumbing system for the river manifold. The algae has started growing nicely and the fish are very active.
Hardware:
2X 1200lph powerheads in the manifold
1X 3000lph wavemaker
1X 60mm fan running at 3V
1X 100W heater
2X 39W T5 lights on from 8AM to 6PM
Temperature are being kept between 21 and 22 degrees Celsius.
Inhabitants:
4X Stiphodon atropurpureus
6X Pseudogastromyzon myseri/cheni
2X Gastroyzon zebrinus
1X Homaloptera smithii
9X Danio kyathit
3X Acanthocobitis botia
I am still desperately looking for more stiphodons and some Sewellia spp.

Love the tank. If you do not mind me asking, why did you take out the plants? Were they too messy for the tank?
