some pictures for Tanja

Post by helen nightingale » Thu May 15, 2008 8:06 pm

Ages ago i said i'd try and get some pictures of my pair of fat yoyos with my other yoyos. here are some very bad photos, but it might give you the impression of size. sorry for the dirty glass, fuzzy focus, glare, flying sand, etc. One day, i will learn how to take a better picture

Image
betsy and bertha, well most of them

Image
betsy with a smaller yoyo in the background

Image
betsy with a rostrata and a smaller yoyo, and ernie looking fat

Image
this is such a crap picture, but you can see how big betsy or bertha's tail is compared to the rostrata

Image
my collection of lardy loaches - fatty the striata, ernie the garra and betsy peeking in. also squiggly loach.

Image
smaller yoyo pulling a face

Image
finally a big and small yoyo together

Image
thats quite enough picture taking!

 Those are incredible fish.
What size are they?
I particularly like the large striata and the oldly marked ones.

thanks Jim :D the big yoyos must be 1 - 1.5" tall, and 5 - 6" long. hopefully when i move them into their new tank, i will be able to measure them. i mananged to hold a tape next to bertha and she was roughly 6". the biggest striata is probably only 3-4", but she is stocky. you wouldnt believe she is the alpha loach

Helen, your loaches are looking superb! 8) 8) 8) Betsy and Bertha are as beautiful as ever, and I just love that B. striata with the weird markings. I think your picture taking has come on a treat too. :D

Emma

P.S. Hels, if you like, when we move your fish I will bring my camera, a narrow photo tank and a ruler so's we can get a few close up snaps and measurements, if you like? I wouldn't keep them in the tank too long, but it would be a great opportunity that you may not get the chance to do again.

Those are the biggest, fattest loaches I have ever seen. They look wonderful! I love the wild Striata. What a cool looking fish. I bought one for great squiggles on his nose, but I have never seen one this cool.

Absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing.

thank you all so much for your nice comments :D

Tinman, the squiggly loach is a small striata. it hasnt grown much for ages.

Emma if you are sure you wouldnt mind, that would be great if ou could take some pictures of my fish :D then people can see them properly in focus. how big is your photo tank? i have a couple of small show tanks but i will have to check the sizes. theywill be fine for the smaller fish i know. thank you so much. you are a star :D

Tanja, do you have pictures of your striata's squiggly nose? mine all seem to have normal nose markings, so i would love to see yours

Hi Helen, Thanks for posting your photo's. You have some Amazing Botia's there. Those Yo-Yo's really are the Benchmark from what I have seen and I hope mine look similar to yours when they grow-up.
I just LOVE my YO-YO's. Cheers Graeme.

Windex, Vinegar Helen :D

I'm wondering if your camera is picking up on crap on the glass and focussing on that?

These super-duper fish deserve to be photographed clearly. They're really lovely Hels.

Martin.

again, thank you :D

clowntje, dont worry if your pictures are bad. nodoby will mind. i got these photos as i hadnt fed the fish the day before, or that evening, so they were begging. sometimes after they get a treat they dont want to eat the boring food if they arent all that hungry

Martin, that is a good suggesttion. the watermarks dont really notice except when taking photos, so i think you are right. it was an unplanned photosession, and i was more concerned about trying to avoid glare and refelections. i will give the tank a good wipe when i get round to it
