Great pics odyssey. Are they all taken in the same area?

Another question about Stiphodon, I saw in one of your aquarium pics shrimps, did you ever see them eat or try to eat a baby shrimp?

thanks,
planty.

I have not seen shrimp eating baby shrimp so far.
Baby shrimp is sometimes eaten by fish.

I have not seen Stiphodon eating shrimp and baby shrimp by now.

Hi tyrano34.

Okinawa is northern limit of the distribution of Stiphodon, and it is not the most suitable environment for them.
Their fry has been carried from the tropical zone by the Kuroshio Current.
The Kuroshio Current norths at the Japanese coast, but it is to Okinawa of the subtropical zone that Stiphodon can inhabit.

I show below the data of the change of the water temperature of some rivers of Okinawa.
The temperature notation is centigrade.

Apr.. May.. Jun.. Jly.. Aug.. Sep..Oct.. Nov.. Dec..Jun.. Feb..Mar..
20.7 27.0 24.6 31.0 27.0 27.6 28.5 20.7 20.0 20.3 15.9 20.4

20.0 27.5 24.0 27.4 26.9 25.7 26.8 21.5 21.0 21.0 17.5 21.6

20.5 27.5 24.7 28.2 26.1 25.7 28.4 20.6 20.4 20.9 17.7 21.2

19.1 25.4 23.2 28.6 25.3 24.8 26.8 20.4 19.9 20.4 16.7 20.6

21.1 24.5 24.4 25.9 26.9 25.6 23.2 20.5 18.5 18.9 16.4 18.6

Please translate after page 46 of the following Japanese PDF if you want to know detailed data.
http://www.eb.pref.okinawa.jp/water_inf ... pouH19.pdf

I do not know the reason why a fry of Stiphodon does not appear in. Possibly I may not notice it.
The identification of the fry of Stiphodon and Sicyoputerus seems to be extremely difficult.
The distinction may not be made not be it with an ichthyologist.

It was June that I photographed, but there is a possibility that a season does not match it.

you're a leader my friend.
Think you that if you down the river, you should see young Stiphodon?

as for the strong stream of the river, I doubt that young people can be maintained in such force.

Brown algae should be identified and whether it is eatable or whether it serves as a medium for food.

tetra creates a food seaweed : "tetra natura aglae mix" and I want to know if you already used food on the your Stiphodon?

I sent your a private message very important, look at that please.

I missed a question, can we put plants tender with this type of fish?

Utricularia graminifolia, Hemianthus callitrichoides, Vesicularia christmas Riccia?.

:D

I'm growing an alga as food from Stiphodon in the water tank.
I don't know "tetra natura aglae mix".

I'm planting a great deal of Anubias barteri var.nana, Bacopa caroliniana and Egeria densa as the field to grow an alga.

I have no knowledge about other plants.

I tried the food of tetra "tetra natura algae mix", and the Stiphodon does not like food but the shrimp eat this food.
