Thanks! Yes, I was wondering about the same thing that the barbs may die off by the time the loaches reach their full size. Good point about the ratio of M:F. It would be great if they're mostly males. Having to do less tank maintenance is always preferable.

Thanks for that tip about the AqAdvisor result. I wonder what the criteria for intermediate/advanced are according to them?
