Anyone used these? Looks temptingly convenient, and I like that each food has just one active ingredient, some of which are hard to find in stores.

Clowns wasting while still eating, plus other symptoms
A few months ago, one of my 4 large clowns gradually started getting skinny and having buoyancy problems. Giving him peas seemed to help temporarily, but he’d get worse again. I opted not to treat because he was acting normal otherwise and I didn’t want to stress the rest of the tank with meds based...

Chronic loach rage! Any advice?
So once upon a time I had a small group of large clowns, and everything was great. Over the last few years, life has had us moving from one remote rural town to the next. Unfortunately, a couple of years ago I lost a few fish to mysterious issues with the municipal water in one previous town, so I a...

Thanks for the reply, Diana. My last water change was only a day ago, and the tank is gravel-less. I agree with you about meds in general, but in this case, based on the fact that I always keep my nitrates low and I've already lost 1 loach, I doubt that the others will recover with nothing more than...

Clown crisis - bacteria and meds question
75 gal tank, established as is for 2+ years 5 clowns (4"-6"), 1 siamese algae eater amm = 0 nitrite = 0 nitrate = 5-15 ppm A few weeks ago one of the clowns died suddenly. One evening I came home from work and noticed him hiding in the plants at the surface, breathing hard. Barbels were red, blood i...

water softening advice please
About a year ago I moved across the state with my clown loach tank. My new home has much harder water than the old place. The CLs seemed to be doing okay for a long time, although my water seems to be lethal to rainbowfish. Anyway, last week I suddenly lost one of my large CLs to an apparent bacteri...

Thanks Emma. The new guys are around 4.5" and 6", and yes, that does sound like what I'm seeing. I wasn't sure about it, because my three resident clowns of similar size haven't shown any color change like this. I wonder if it's genetics or environment/diet that causes it? They have settled into the...

Large clowns with black color faded in spots?
I just adopted two large clowns. They look good and plump, and so far they act healthy. But, both fish have 2-3 large spots in their black bands that appear to be fading to match the yellow. The spots have soft edges, and do not look like irregular markings. It almost looks like the fish are losing ...

Martin, thanks for the info. Your river tank is lovely, I'll probably try to build something similar in terms of water movement. Do you get much sand creep with that constant, one way flow? Do you think 8 clowns and 3 tinfoils would work, bio load wise? (assuming 50% weekly water changes and a coupl...

Stocking advice please
I adopted three orphaned clowns a few months ago (2"-4" SL). Currently they have a 55 gal to themselves. I'm planning to upgrade their tank when we move this summer. I'm planning a 6 foot, 135 gallon tank. I'll add three more clowns, roughly the same size, for a total of six. I want to add some tin ...

Yoyo gravid for months?
Hi all. I have a single 4"+ yoyo loach- I found her all by herself at the lfs about six months ago. I haven't been able to find any other similar sized yoyos, so she's living with my three 3" clowns in a 55. She went from being a total recluse when she was alone to being a terrible bully with the cl...

How to reassure a very shy, lonely, one-eyed 4" yoyo?
A couple months ago I ran across a beautiful 4"+ yoyo loach all by herself at the lfs- I was charmed. I thought there was something wrong with her right eye, but after I got her home I discovered the poor thing has no right eye, just a gold patch that moves like an eye would. :( She's now living wit...
