Thanks, loachmom! I'll look for it. If I have to go online, I will. It sounds like the way to go.

I think I may have something similar in the skin fluke line in my 125. Flashing and small grey patches on some of my guppies. The cories look all right so far. Is there some antiparasitic medicine I can try? I've got java fern in this tank too, so I need to know how plants react to whatever I try.

She might very well have had something wrong with the pregnancy, she might have had bloat/dropsy and she could very well have been too old. Guppies only have a life span of about two years, so your six months was a significant chunk of it. I've had a couple of older females do that to me-they get re...

If he's moving now, it sounds like he might actually be doing better. You got him away from the goldies, that's a plus-I hate it when fish start nibbling on other fish that are still alive. And you've set him up a nice q-tank. If you're worried about him eating, can you give him something like a sin...

God, I have tons of them. They're in my mollie tank and my corie/guppy 33L and somehow they got into the planted ten gallon where I'm keeping my three new c. weitzmani. Ramshorns and pond snails. I also have two huge goldfish (5+"), so whenever they get really obnoxious, I throw down an algae wafer ...

At this point, it's a question of where to put another tank. We are about to strip the carpet out of my son's bedroom and put new flooring in-the carpet was not great to begin with and having 29 gallons of water leak all over it after the used tank I bought cracked (after I'd filled and checked it o...

I have cories, swords and one really evil red-tailed shark with mine. Don't know how angels would do-I'm pretty sure the kuhlis wouldn't care about them, but I gather there's a bit of range in angelfish temperament. I am under the impression that the black ones can be quite evil. This sounds like a ...

The sponge filter is a big one and it has an air stone that is going full blast. That's where he likes to sit, up by the bubbles. I have a powerhead, but I've had lots of problems with it clogging up, even after modifying the intake with sponges, etc.. It's in the 55 gallon. It provides a small area...

Schistura update

Well, not having a river tank, I put my little schistura in the 33L with the cories and the guppies. It doesn't have a power head, but there is an Aquaclear 30-50 and a sponge filter rated up to 80 gallons in there. All is well so far. The large guppies are unscathed, though he's been known to lunge...

Would he bother the kuhlis? Are they too similar in body type? I've got a power head in the 55 that I had set up for them, but I stopped using it because it kept clogging up and they didn't seem to like it anyway. Taking another look at him, he's less than 2" at this point. I'll figure something out...

Got me a schistura?

Hi everyone! I was a very bad girl today. A friend and I were out on a fish run-the specialty LFS has supplies 50% off till the end of the year. And we stopped at a second fish/pet store which is a local chain. And there, in a tank of albino aeneaus, otos and barbs, was this one little guy, maybe ab...

A while back, someone said they'd used the sheep boluses at a rate of one per ten gallons. Since I have sheep, I actually had some on hand. I treated a very small skinny kuhli with that and it didn't hurt him, though the yellow was very messy (as I had been warned). I just let the pill dissolve in t...

The albino aeneas are a little flashier and just as hardy, and they're available everywhere. I will confess to being sorely tempted by some longfin albino paleatus I saw on Aquabid. My regular paleatus may very well be common as dirt, but they have fun personalities. And they bred for me! I don't kn...

Sure they're compatible. I've got four striped kuhlis (pangios most likely, though I thought one was a myersi for a while), and two black kuhlis, and they all lair up under some rocks and driftwood together. No problems whatsoever. They are happiest in groups, but apparently those groups can be mixe...
