yea, well we arent heating our house currently, but my room stays a constant 20ºc, but if its hot outside (like 30º+) then my room may rise to 22º or so.. still too cold for the fish

thanks for the idea of using gravel from another tank, i have like 75 lbs in my 70g.. which is more than enough, so i can always take enough out to make a nice 2" layer in the 10g q-tank

good heaters are a must around here.. its canada! but seriously fish will die if the water gets too cold, which ...

ok, so when i estimated $90 for the q-tank heres what i factored in:

$15 for tank (and screen top)
$25 filter (aquaclear mini)
$20 heater (tronic or visitherm?)
$10 for 10 lbs of gravel
$20 for plants and a cave

i'd think having gravel in the tank would aid in making the fish more comfortable ...

i dont have a q-tank, im not alowed to get another tank, and the only other tank i have is the 10g with a solitary male betta in it so my options are kinda limited :lol:

a 10g would be too small to quarentine 6 kubs even if i could.. i have some rubbermaid tubs though, maybe i could use them ...

still looking for some B. Kubotai for my 70g, the local fish shop that can order in fish cant find an importer than has kubotai in stock, they are in high demand apparently.. petsmart has some, but all the fish i bought from them died within days ...

what do you mean by 'normal' ammonia levels?

ammonia and nitrite should be at zero, and nitrates should not exceed 30 ppm

i feed my betta squished ants and mosquitoes hahaha, i wouldnt feed live as i'd be afraid of the ant biting the insides of the fish

hes still alive and kickin, so i guess its safe, just as long as there is no pesticide (such as raid) ANYWHERE in or around your house
