i used to over salt my piranha tank
as i was feeding alot of live fish to them
from sources i prolly shouldnt have
but in my 180gal i was adding about 3/4 of a pound of salt
the fish were healthy and great and never had a problem
my last 3 live without salt now
i sold off 15 of them

so if you have 5000 watts
your running 5 kilowats
now every hour they run is another story
my 500 watt on my 180 runs for 30 seconds every few minutes on a really cold day in an unheated basement
i am haveing problems with my electric and am in a high bill investigation ...

with a short move like that you could do it all in 1 day
bucket up the fish
lower the tank water to about enuff to keep the gravel covered
also use another bucket to hold your filter media
toss all this into your vechical
and drive
when you get to the new place
set up your tank filters and what ...

i have moved large fish in 5 gallon buckets
were they were in the buckets for over 4 hours total
rubbermaids should be ok
i used them for temporary housen for fish

welp heres a stupid idea

a water bed heater
they are a flat plastic pad
they come with a thermometer and a thurmustat (sp)

you could line the sump witha pond liner
placen the heaters pad under it
and it sould work good
its controllable from 60-100 degress F

and jammed on the intake of my fx5
they kinda fit right into the groves of the fx5

do you have any friends with fish tanks that har cycled?
if so get some of there SubStrate and maybe some filter media ie sponge or gravel stuff
fish stores often sell gravel but only as a last resort

well water can be scarey dangerous sometimes

like go to the local stream or lake and try some fish from there

if you got alot of little red bumps on your arm after you cleaned the tank
it prolly was just an irritation from your arm rubbing on the plastic trim
i get it all the time

i dunno if you clean with your tops on or off but off gives you more room without the rubbing on the plastic

toss all your substrate into the new tank
in doing so your new filter will get some bactiria into it
also put your AC filter onto the new tank
add your fish
and your good to go
id even say gravel vac the old tank into the new tank
i switch my tanks around all the time and dont lose fish doing ...
