I'd be mad and sad too. Poor thing. More and more people are asking to net their own fish because of careless and incompetent LFS staff. I would have cut the net away asap instead of left him hanging there. What an idiot! Sorry you had such a bad experience also. Keep a close eye on your little guys.

You could fishless cycle your 90 gallon so its all cycled over time. All you need is pure ammonia (not stuff with scents/soaps/surfactants (spelling)). I can point you to a good document. It could take 4 to 6 weeks though but no fish are harmed with this process ;). This is the document I used to cy...

I recommended Prime as an option because it does bind a small amount of ammonia on top of dechlorinating. It won't speed up a cycle. I agree with the approach of using cycled media if you have access to it. This will speed things up. If not daily testing, daily water changes until numbers get below ...

ammonia and nitrites are probably the problem. People lose fish when tanks cycle. Adding in carbon to the filter could help take out toxins if they were in the gravel but I assume you washed the gravel before putting water in. With nitrites of the scale I assume ammonia is also off the scale. A cond...

I asked a friend on another forum who is a moderator on another forum. She happens to also have a dojo in a tank with confirmed tb exposure for feedback on your post. Here is her reply: "I just looked at the first pics, didn't read the whole thing. I actually think columnaris is a good possibility. ...

You've got a cycle blip. Removing the gravel is not a good idea - it will make the cycle even worse. Tank size? #/size of inhabitants? What type of fish? Do you have an ammonia reading? What conditioner are you using? I think with nitrites at that level you will continue to lose fish. Depending on t...

Depending on the size of the tank you could distract your goldies and feed them in one corner and the loaches in another. If they are common goldfish - they will swim faster and get to the food faster than fancies would. My goldfish in the 90 gallon all race to the "feeding corner" to dance when I g...

I did some research on this a few weeks ago... to see if my cat could have been affected. It is commonly referred to as `fishkeeper`s disease`. Google it in quotes and it returns a lot. I think it is possible to get this if you are working in an affected tank with a cut or scratch. I keep rainbow fi...

I've been reading up on this also because I have a sick cat with the main symptom being a wet cough. I was worried becuase he drinks fish water when ever there is a chance. (I broke a filter top which allowed him access). I've saran wrapped it to keep him out. I sought advice and an aquatic vet in t...
