Thanks Diana, I can't rule out water chemistry specifically. I am going to go back to using reconstituted RO water I think. I have a UV unit but it causes nitrItes to be present and I didn't like having to keep salt in the tank. I think this might be the lesser of two evils. I have a problem with my...

Thanks. I was assuming parasite because of the intermittent flashing in the two goldfish. Both weather loaches ate some blood worms and mysis shrimp today. One of them is breathing a bit fast though. I have to decide what to do - do I risk a harsh treatment like 1/2 strength ridich or an antibacteri...

Thank you. I've had the two remaining ones for a year and a half. I added them to be company for the one I lost. I didn't add any before then because I was worried she'd be unable to get food being she was blind. Nothings been added to the tank and each of my tanks has its own gravel vac (python att...

Dojo's not eating - help

Hi guys, Its been a long time since I posted here. I lost my favourite weather loach last night. I had her three years. I think she might have been injured. The side of her abdomen was swollen and some petichia near her tailfin. She has been blind almost since I had her but had no issues what so eve...

Thank you again guys. I'm glad we don't have to be loach experts on GAB. We can stick to what we know best. Turns out the loach was too injured and didn't make it. It was 8-10" long so probably not a stone loach. The poster that found this in their pond is keen on getting loaches and I have asked th...

I'm not in the UK but the poster from GAB is - the one who found this guy in their pond.

Its weird to even think of these guys being wild and just finding their way into a pond via heron or other means.

Another ID request - injured wild loach in pond (uk)

On the GAB forum a member posted a wild loach was found in their grandmothers pond injured. They noted it was probably dropped in by a heron?? They wanted to know if they can bring it inside into an aquarium to help its recovery. Missing half its tail and has jelly like black blobs on his head as pe...

Loach ID

Someone posted a picture of their "pleco" on GAB. I think it is a loach by the body shape. I'd like to learn more about its needs but can't do this without an ID. Right now its in with goldfish. It was just moved from the goldfish tank and looks a little unhappy with the move in this picture (the on...

I love your oranda - adorable wen on him!!!! Doesn't look like an infection. Some illnesses like costia look like extra slime coat but you would see flashing and other signs of illness. I am dealing with a wen infection on my orange oranda. He is all wen. His wen was very firm and has white pimples ...

www.thegab.org is a great resource for goldfish specifically. There are many causes for swim bladder disorder. We discuss this topic extensively as most of us are affected in one way if we have fancy goldfish. I have an oranda goldfish that is upside down also. It started before the signs of an illn...

Yes answer all the questions about the water and tank please and what medication you have on hand. Clean happy water will be a must for him to heal. Do you think he could have gotten burned by the heater? On another forum there was a heater burn and the aquatic vet that they took the fish to - most ...

Your post made me think of a goldfish on the goldfish forum. Even the mouth/lips.
