Have you considered asking your LFS, or even a decent petstore, to order you whatever fish you have your eye on? I never considered the possibility, but one day I was in my local petstore (small independant store which has a small, but good quality fish section- mostly guppies, tetras, goldfish- tha...

My loach and pleco's favourite food is courgette/ zuchini, and broccoli (but they make such a mess with the broccoli, I have to hoover and clean the filter, so they don't get that often) . They don't really like cucumber. I have heard they like earthworm, and it is raining today, so I might go to th...

Hrmm... I've looked at the few websites I have bookmarked and it isn't on them, just in a few old forums I read when I did research on them around Christmas.

Never mind me :)

Are weather loaches really blind?

I have read in a couple of places that dojo loaches are either completely blind, or can only see light and dark. Is that really true? Because I could swear my Lenny likes to bait my cat when the cat is watching "Fish TV", by swimming up and down one corner of the tank.

From my very limited command of the language, the poster has a 300 litre aquarium in his house, and has two loches he'd like identified. The loaches have black, round bodies and white rings.

Maybe you could provide a photo?

Thank you- I have started posting on the Irish board and might go to a meeting they have next week! I might consider keeping the loach for now, and seeing how quickly we can move- we are hoping to buy a house you see (hrmm... aquarium space....), which could happen this year as my husband is looking...

So, I assume everyone agrees with the first poster's advice here?
I have found I cannot bring the loach back, but have been able to find an Irish fishkeepers club, so I might be able to find a home for him that way if absolutely neccessary.

How big is your tank, is the water stable and how many/ what kind of other fish are in there? Did you recently add any fish/ plants that could have brought disease in?

That is very sad.
You know, I am only a hobbyist, I don't know that much about fish... but I don't think they do dyed and tattood fish here in Ireland. At least, I have never seen any. Also our supermarkets do not sell animals, I think you need a special liscence to sell animals here...

Mine won't touch the three veggies you list there, but they love broccoli (which makes a mess as they tear it apart and I have to clean out the filter a few hours after feeding), and courgette (=zuchini) with the very middle taken out.

Weather Loaches and only 120 litre tank (newbie ?)

Hi all, I am a newbie and I am afraid I may have been a bad loach keeper. I had 2 goldfish in a 120 litre tank (that is about 32 gallons I think- length is 33 inches) and when one of them died after 6 years, once I was sure the water was stable, I decided to get the remaining goldfish (fantail, 2 in...
