Re: Stiphodon genus of the Goby

Wonderful as ever Odyssey! So the two Stiphodon spp. are separated or do they occur together?

Re: Stiphodon genus of the Goby

Absolutely outstanding image series yet again Odyssey. The unidentified Stiphodon sp. is interesting. It doesn't appear to be any of the described species known to occur in the Ryukyu Islands?

Re: Tanichthys thacbaensis-new white cloud species

I've heard that the images are of little help, but would still love to see that paper! Think all the fish in the link you posted are T. micagemmae though Graeme?

Re: Just Got a (True) Siamensis

Hi, there is no such thing as a 'true' C. siamensis since that name is a synonym of the mysterious Epalzeorhynchos siamensis . Arguably one of the most high profile cases of incorrect naming in the hobby given the popularity of the fishes involved. What you probably have is Crossocheilus atrilmes or...

They can go colder than that as they're breeding here in northern Spain.

Re: weather loach in a pond

Hi, where are you based? Asian Misgurnus and Paramisgurnus spp. are now considered invasive species across much of Europe due to them escaping from fish farms and private garden ponds then becoming established in natural waters. In Spain they're also exerting a negative effect on endemic Cobitis pop...

Re: ID: Leptobotia guilinensis or Sinibotia pulchra?

Avant one way to tell the difference between Sinibotia and Leptobotia is that the latter have a noticeably shorter suborbital spine. Sinibotia also have a pair of rounded lobes in the lower lip which are missing in Leptobotia (there are other differences too, some of which are internal). At any rate...

Re: What pangio is it?

Only specimens from Java can be called P. kuhlii for sure yes, and believe it or not this means that the species has probably never been traded, or at least not in the last few decades.
