How many dojo loaches

can I comfortably fit in a 75 gallon? I have three now, recently one of my golds did the dive of death while we were gone on a all day family outing. I had to go quite a ways (85 miles!) to get that pair and want to make the gas money worth it if I do it again and get 2-3 of them to replace the one....

I'm completely in love with mine. Something about their rude "GET OUT OF MY WAY" behavior as they go barreling through any and all obstacles in their path, just tickles the hell out of me.

I only have 2 and 2, but I wish I had a larger tank to hold more goldens.

Phew, that's good to know. I was under the impression that digging meant happiness, and that mine weren't pleased. I see them play a bit in the currents of the water when I lower the water level during WC's, and they're always foraging, which is pretty entertaining too. They could do the backstroke ...

shouldn't dojo loaches burrow

I've read that they're a burrowing species, and on very good advice changed my gravel to sand months ago. Not once, since I've changed it, have I seen any of my four dojo loaches burrow beneath it. I see plenty of sand sifting through gills during meal times and foraging but that's about it. Others ...

Awe man :( I am so sorry to hear that. I lost my favorite betta the other day.. water level was just below the top of the internal filter, and she splash dived on top of it while I was at work and dried out I don't know how bad I would feel if one of my dojos made it out of the gap between my aquari...

Mine NEVER burrow all the way into the sand.. When I had gravel they would break their necks to get into it, but now that I have soft sand they just play in it like puppies. They love to tangle into the plants and ride the current from the output of the HOB filters. It's pretty funny to watch it. I ...

I don't think its the corporation.

Pay more money for more expensive fish foods that are natural and lack the whole chemical preservative thing.

Chop it up yourself.

Or suck it up and feed them the stuff with MSG. Everyone has a choice >_>

give him something to rest on at the bottom

mine likes to wedge between some of the thick bushier plants. She's always on a weird angle and a few times, I thought she was dead. soon as i came over to investigate, she bolted off and continued foraging as normal

I've watched the guy in the town fishmarket kill 8 and 12 pound catfish with ease. He hefts these HUGE monstrous sized fish from the water and slaps them onto the table, then brings the hatchet down on the body right behind the head. As he strips them, they are still moving and flopping. The head SE...

If the fish doesn't seem to be suffering then all is fine.

My first loach was the last in the store tank and had terribly tattered fins. I thought it was normal, a month later I noticed he'd healed perfectly. The fins on yours kind of looks like you've got a female.

I always take the advice that I receive here, especially if the health of the fish are at stake. Sometimes it can't be helped though. Like if the advice is 'to rehome the fish' and its because your tank isn't big enough.. sometimes I would think the person doing the inquiry needs to contemplate this...

I practice in my smaller tank as well and I've found that some plants grow better there than in my 75 gallon tank. I usually just keep them in the 10 gallon long enough to grow roots, since the loaches will dig up my stems. It's possible to do it without a CO2 but it's VERY hard and not worth it if ...
