FINNALLY got my Striatus

I got a couple questions though. I have a heavily planted 45 Gal tank with 5 caves. 0 Ammo 0 ites <5 ates. Ph 7.4. I bought 6 Striatus Botia Yesterday. All seem to be happy and flying around the tank. However, they are not schooling at all. They are all roaming around as indiviuals and occationally ...

Personally I would not leave him. Try what you can, even if you think it will kill him. I dont think he is going to free himself and FWIW I would rather die quick than be trapped for days and die anyway.

My hardness is real high also so I might get some distilled water to mix in. You guys think that would be a good idea? Kinda kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Ph level

The Ph in my tank is consistently around 7.6. I have looked at a few loaches that say they need a Ph of 7.0. Do you think the difference in mine would be too high? If so, are there any methods of lowering it that do not involve chemicals that change it so quickly?

Chain Loach Juviniles

My LFS has a tank labled "Chain Loaches" which I want 6 of bady due to thier small size. However they sure dont look like Chain loaches. I came home to look them up and and the loaches they have labled Chain loaches look EXACTLY like Botia Histronica. At least in the images http://www.loaches.com/sp...

Thats good to hear. The only problem I have had with my rainbow is with my other rainbow. I had to seperate them because the smaller one stopped eating and was constantly in hiding. I was afraid the same behavor would be seen between any new bottom feeder I introduced. It sounds like that wont be th...

Albino Rainbow Shark and Loach Compatability

My LFS just got some Chain loaches in stock. I have wanted these for a very long time but I am afraid I might have to find a new home for my albino rainbow shark before I can get them. I have a 55 US Gal. tank and the rainbow shark is very fat healthy 4.5". Do u think he will hurt new loaches? My LF...

Loaches in the Fort Worth Area

Does anyone know where I can find some Zebra, Dwarf, or Yo Yo loaches in the Fort Worth Area.

Mainly I am looking for a smaller loach to keep but I am not finding anything but clown loaches.

My wife just called me and told me she thinks he has fin rot now = :( Hopfully I can get this ICH cleared up in time to treat the fin rott before it gets too bad. I'm gonna feed him some medicated food that is for Fin Rott and hope that helps. If not I will medicate the water as soon as I get done w...

Well good news the little guy looks to be doing good. I am not out of the woods yet because I need to keep meding for a few more days to make sure they dont relapse. However, I have another question. I know Clown Loaches are normally kept in groups. I was planning to have 3 in my tank (55gal) as I s...

Well thoughout the day he really perked up. He also has less spots and over all seems to be doing better. He makes it really hard to post pics of him cause he is still a little scared of me and I dont want to push him to hard. http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m85/Riven02/IMG_2142Small.jpg http://i...

Yes I have read both of those, and the Ich one was the reason I halved my dosage. I did remove the carbon. I think the stess from this could be causing some additional problems to my little loach. His gills are red (looking a little better than they did) and around his mouth he has a little fungal t...
