Well, I own one of these cool fish as well. As you may or may not know, these guys are touchy and can move like nobody's business. What I do is slowly prod around the tank with a dlunt object, like the back end of a net or spongestick, until I scare him up. He'll usually stay up on top for awhile, u...

My Newer Blue Botias (yasuhikotakia modesta)

I just recently (liek in teh last month) got two blue botias for my tank. They are of the red-tailed variety, and are medium-size. They were in the store tank for more than 2 months, so I got a discount on them. They are healthy and colorful. It took them about four days spent most of the time hidin...

Man, I feel almost guilty that I have such good LFS's and such. Only one of them has recently gone down in their quality of fish and enviornment. They recently got a shipment of beautiful brigh orange parrot cichlids, only they were tatooed . This sickened me because half of them were dead and disco...

I shall hunt for more. They are cheap fish, and I shall get at least two if I find them.

My intake filter is covered, and only holes the width of a toothpick show.

I would add more, but, alas, there are no more. Hopefully they get more in, which they said they would.

No fish can get in my filter, even if they tried. To small of areas to squeeze into, really.

Lol, at PetSmart, they had Dojos that were getting into the interconnected filters and ending up in other tanks.

Yes, it is a Pangio Oblonga, or the chocolate/java loach.

My two kuhlis have established very well. Yes, I know they work better in groups of three or more, but these two seem like a good pair (I've learned to take everything with a grain of salt).

The water temp is good ( 76-78 ) as well.

Also, how big do these guys get? I've heard generally 4 inches or so, but I've seen pics of kuhlis that were almost five inches or so.

Ah, man. When you're out of town, either give the person watching over your tank a bag with set amount of food, or just don't feed them anything, if you aren't gone long. The fish are better-off going a bit hungry than being overfed. Naturally, most fish can do fine without food for nearly a week, b...

Yay! Brand-New Kuhlis!

I just got two thick, healthy kuhli loaches from a PetSmart yesterday! They are both about 3 or so inches long (pretty mush full-grown, as I've heard), and live in a 55 gallon community tank setup. These two warmed up to all of the other fish in a heartbeat. The very first night, the two displayed n...
