Right. Am leaving to go to Finland at the end of the week. Holidays and family and all. We'll be gone for two weeks. Two weeks!

So I've gone on long trips before, but I usually have a roommate so there's somebody around to drop food in the tank every few days. However, with the new living situation ...

I use a 12-pack of harlequin rasboras. Wanted to stay in the same biotope and they're just about as friendly and harmless as you can get :-)

Yeah, it's just a very wee kubotai. You can already see where it's starting to spike laterally a little in those stripes. A dario's would lean a bit more forward and would have thinner, brighter yellow stripes if I remember. Saw some baby darios the other day mixed with yo-yos, but was too set on ...

Yes, the ones I saw at Petsmart looked like your first one -- all stripes! I did a double-take when I first saw it, because I wasn't sure what it was at first. Some of my kubotai are from Petsmart, but I've never seen them stock anything that young at my store before.

Same loach. SAME LOACH! o.O

The photos show the gold more than the eye does, hence why I was saying they were rostrata in my thread. I have one that looks really kubotai-like and most that don't have any lateral spiking of the stripes. Crazy active, climbing the sides of the tank and trying to hurl ...

Bengals for the win! We have a blue marbled girl of the long-furred variety. Her siblings were all proper-looking Bengals, so obviously we went for the freakish one ;-)

I saw the tiny baby kubs at Petsmart the other day too :-( An inch long at the most, still all stripey and tiny. Felt horrible leaving them behind, but still can't help cruising by the tanks even when I'm only there to get cat food. Ugh.

I considered dario, but the yellow stripes on dario seem to be very thin compared to the thicker stripes on my little guys. Plus they don't look quite as strikingly yellow and black -- more the same ...

It's Tong's Tropical Fish, a family-owned place that's been around for quite a while, from what I gather. I've had great luck with getting healthy fish from them, and they're the only store I know that stocks clowns bigger than 3". The address is:

Hi, guys! So I'd put in a order for striata at my LFS last week and they came in today. Only... they weren't striata. I'm pretty sure they're baby rostrata, which is just fine by me and will work just as well as the striata, but wanted to make sure since I haven't seen this guys in person before ...
