perhaps... Now I'm trying to find a good type of bottom feeder for the tank... 55gal with two angel fish... and two striatas if they live. Just bummed that I've NEVER had issues with even the most fragile fish in this tank and now these two are the only survivors out of 8. Really doesn't make sense....

the weakling ended up dying... he just looks very skinny... sunken in body behind the head, don't think there is much that I could have done at that point. Used to have clowns and when they got that bad it was just a matter of time. The other two are zipping throughout the tank and seem happy... *cr...

I just hope that the place I bought them from will give me a discount or something on additional botias since it was obviously not my fault... why would they all die at different times and different days if it was just a water quality issue? Wish I knew what happened... and I hope they get better......

I'm trying to figure out what it was... have been keeping daily water param checks and nothing's really changed at all. I have done small water changes each time a dead lo...

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!! Unfortunately I lost one more this morning... grand total of fish I have alive is 4. They're doing better... one of them has a nice little belly and comes out to take food and clicks away. The others are swimming in the cave and I'm guessing coming out at night for food. Have...

Nitrites are 0ppm! Just tested them with the test kit... made my the same manufacturer as stress coat... it's a little test tube one with reagents, not the dip stick. One little guy found the shrimp pellets and started clicking away...happy sign for a loach, thank goodness! One more passed away this...

Thanks Mick. I'm rather ticked at the store I got them from.. if many more die I'm going there and raising hell... hopefully they'll give me some credit or order some new ones in for me. I mean $60 on them... I feel horrible that they're dying on me...because they're usually pretty hardy little guys...

I did test the water and it was the same pH and their params had a little more ammonia in the bag, so that shouldn't be the problem. Other fish in the tank: 2 angels and a leaf gourami. They get fed twice a day, 12 hours apart. so 7am and 7pm usually. They were skinny little guys when I bought them,...

I did... I'm an experienced fish keeper... and that's why I'm so freaked out.

I'll try some live food... hmm... now just need to find a quality store tomorrow. Thanks for your help, truly!

Dying Botia Striatas...don't know why!?

I have no idea why my new striatas are dying. All perams are normal Ammonia 0ppm Nitrites and Nitrates both very low. pH is 7.2 (hasn't changed) They're not eating... new little guys, and don't come out or anything. There's plenty of flake that has fallen into the substrate and I've also tried a cou...

So far... they're sleeping together and swimming around nicely. the clowns, minus the alpha have readily accepted them, but the alpha clown showed that he/she is boss... we'll see how it goes, so far, so good... they've left my angelfish entirely alone, maybe they're going to work out... *sigh* i ju...

okay... it's 2 am and i'm still awake worrying about the little guys... i went in to check on them and they're all sleeping together... would it be a dumb idea to just keep a close eye on the situation? the only other pet-stores around here are PetsMart and pet supermarket... neither of them are all...

i'm in georgia...

would they be okay with eachother for another year or so??

i've heard and seen of people keeping clowns and modestas before... doesn't it depend on their personalities and won't they be less agressive since they're in a larger shoal, like tiger barbs..?

i know it's small, but it is all i have... they were being tormented and i had to rescue them. the clowns are taking to them quite well... and even "shoaling" with them... the modestas are pretty calm, they never harmed the angelfish... i have two large ones... and their fins are still long as hell.
