Yeah, you're definitely going to need a kuhli 'trap.' Something with food inside it with a little hole that only a kuhli can getinto. Those betta containers at Petsmart/Petco are perfect for this. Careful though - make sure you get your kuhlis out of ther eonce they're in. I think the limited surfac...

I'm gonna add one more voice to the "WTF" chorus regarding the flushing of the live, non-dead goldfish down the toilet. It's a horrible, horrible death, with the chlorine in the water, and being emptied into the sewage system. Chlorine literally burns the protective coating that fish have off. BURNS...

Thank you, Glenna. Yes, it cost me for the LFS to keep my fish, but it was worth it. I did not loose a single clown. . Hooray!!! I just realized that you were the person I gave my old clowns to when I looked at the pictures and was like "hey, those look like the patterns my old clowns had." No dead...

Free Clowns to good home in Houston, TX

Hey y'all, It looks like I'm going to have to give up my 125 gallon tank, so I need a new home for my loaches. I've got 11 of 'em, the largest being around 3" and the smallest being at 1". I've got two with special "jigsaw" patterns on them and what not. I don't want to just give them back to the pe...

Clown splotchiness?

I just noticed that all my clowns seem to be well...splotchy? They've got little bits on their dorsal fins (and other fins) that are darker than the rest of them. Some of them even have little spots on their bodies that look the same way. They all look "grayed out", except for these splotchy areas. ...

$17.25?!?!?!

I bought most of my clowns for less than $4 apiece. Wow.

Guess the shop is waiting for them to grow up? and so wants to discourage people from buying the little ones?

Is it safe to have them in there with those stingray looking things? What happens when they get too inquisitive?

Mine bothered my betta relentlessly. I took the betta out, healed it and then stuck it back, then went on an errand. When I came back a few hours later, the betta was nothing but a skeleton. My 10 clowns I'm also pretty sure took out a favorite angelfish of mine that was significantly larger than th...

There are other sources for lighting besides the original lights and minor variations from the manufacturer. Larger tanks seem to use the light more efficiently so that 2 watts per gallon is likely to be into the low-med range, not strictly low light. Plenty of driftwood or caves will help until th...

Plants and Clowns and Lighting

Hey y'all, Two questions: 1) How do I balance the tendency for clowns to want less light with the light requirements of having live plants. 2) I have a 125 gallon aquarium. With the two lighting fixtures that came with my tank (each one holds on fluorescent bulb), am I doomed as far as plants go sin...

No opinions on having powerheads that deliver about 700 gph each? I noticed that the ones that you have, emma, don't deliver more than 300 gph each. 700 gph won't blast my little fishies to the other side of the tank? P.S. I did decide what setup to create: two XP4's + 2 XP3's, along with the river ...

So I was looking at these powerheads http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/group/11460/product.web ~700 gph from each one too much? I was almost thinking about getting the top of the line 900gph one. I am concerned, tough, that it will be too concentrated. Thoughts? Just thought I'd repost so that it did...
