N. Corica is having a hard time breathing. Has been tearing around the tank in the day time with the occasional foray to the top. Crashing into the sides of the tank , falling onto his back.
have had him for about 3 years now.
He is the survivor from my original 4.

the first time I saw him filter feed I was surprised to say the least. :roll:
I have never seen any other HF in the fish store-- he was just Dying in the BOO BOO tank And I asked what he was. They said he was almost dead and did I want to try to revive him.

10 gallon tank- it's too small for him I know but he is a rescue and I have no other place to put it.

Had a bad outbreak of ick. My Bn catfish died. The laoch is much more active now as they used to have skirmishes all the time. he swims all around the tank and seems resentfull of the platies in with him.
he no longer hides in the gravel.
Is this normal for horse faced loaches?

tried to treat it with antibiotics and antiparasitics, but it would not eat at all. found it dead this morning.
i tried extra oxygen too.

About 2 -3 months ago I had an outbreak of hemorrhagic septicemia in my 20 gal tank after introducing a pair of gold gourami's. In total 6 of my 'old' fish died as well as the gourami's. i believe they also had internal parasites d/t seeing white poo.

Ontario humane society does not consider fish or chicken for that matter to be worthy of protection. There are a lot of fish kept in horrendous conditions.Humane society say they have enough to do with furry animal abuse.

fish seem quite happy today and for the past couple of days Thanks.
i am wondering if the whole thing was brought on by stress from the aggrassive gourami and adding new fish at the same time and triggered a chain reaction. Obviousy will be monitoring closely!!

Everyone in the tank seems fine at this moment. They gave me a scare today as one of the SAE's went ripping around the tank. Then the skirt tetras started the spawning routine. The fish in the other gallon started dashing about the tank and flicking on the plants.

Thread is not damaged! Just so much to learn about what can go wrong!
I saved a copy of the pdf file for future ref-- hoping that i don't need to refer to it again.
I apparently treated with the wrong thing if I used erythromycin. I have not heard of oxytetracycline-- just plain old tetracycline ...

happy to report that everyone is ok this morning. No ammonia, no nitrites evryone eating etc.
So what ever it was was something transitory.
I have used a bit of carbon before too without seeing that effect after tap water wash. It's a mystery for sure.

I did not succeed with the filter but with the extra O2 the fish seem to be their usual greedy self again. I am really wondering if the chloramine, minor tho it was triggered something off.

Mike this is NOT what they had!
If you take the whole are on the belly from the front fins to almost the back bottom fins that is the size of the redness.
Those pics of yours look very much like a hole being burrowed out.
