Here's what might be the silliest question yet:

Have you looked to see if the 'white haze' is there when there's water in the tank ?

Just that some tanks of mine look hazy when empty...

Hi Guys. I find that just putting smaller stones on the bottom of the tank & then larger relatively flat ones on top of that makes lots of different sized nooks & crannies for the loaches to squeeze into or lounge around in at their leisure.
Just my 2 cents for what it's worth...

Hi there. If the tank was an older style one with the metal angle on the edges, it is very important for the structural integrity of the tank. The plastic angle edges fitted are merely to hide the silicone bead from the outside, thus adding no strength. As previously mentioned though, i would be con...

i was VERY concerned for any unwitting customer that may be sold infected fish & add them to a tankfull of beautiful discus or loaches or any tank for that matter unknowingly And what do you think about the stores that sell fish infected with, say, nematodes? Unlike Ich these can spread to people.....

I'd offer 'em five bucks each for the 'sick' fish & if they agreed, i'd take them home, put them in your small tank & raise the temp. to about 31 degrees celcius. If they said 'no, i'd ring the government department concerned & inform them that this shop was selling seriously infected fish to member...

When the fish clerks know you are the loach guy or gal, you know you have a problem! I think exactly the opposite applies to me. If my lfs gets some or even sees some nice loaches or L number Loriicardae on their list, they ring me at home & bet on how long it will take me to get my ### on down the...

Ty Emma. What a beauty !! Here's the answer to your dither fish dilemna: Send the Eos to me, it will live happily with my syncrossus. Then you can keep whatever dithers you want !! J/K... :P On a more serious note...you are quite limited in your choice of tankmates as am I with my 'tigers'. You will...

What is an 'eos' ? Barbs...out. Plant eaters...out. Have you thought about some of the many tetras available ? One that comes to mind is the rummynose (hemigrammas). These are medium sized, shoal very nicely & really are an amazing looking mid level swimmer. They won't nibble your plants and are not...

Ty very much Sophie. Lotsa cool looking ones there but i've only ever seen the 'standard' old kuhlis for sale here. Different sp. of loaches are rather hard to come by in Australia. I'm always on the lookout though & recently aquired four lovely specimens of berdmorei (tigers) & WOW, they're cool lo...
