Loaches have a new home.

Tank setup is still for sale.

Priced to move... $400 for everything.

Still running... get it before the bio-filters die!

I've never had a bad experience with prime. I think it's useful to have the nitrite/ammonia "detox" ability in there in case of emergency.

But I realize that that only reason to use it on new water is for chlorine/chloramine removal.

~30 minute drive from old place to new. 75g tank + 20g planted. 75g definitely will need to be emptied - some rather large driftwood etc in there. I have 2 eheim 2028 filters - can I just disconnect and transport as-is? (w/the valves closed water shouldn't escape from these!) Or do I need to dump th...

Any idea where I could find such instruments?

As a mild perfectionist I find the cap-measuring to be frustrating at best.

Thanks!

hmmmmmm...

So where do I get these bags and styrofoam containers? Just ask at a fish shop? Knowing my local place they'd probably charge me $25 for each styofoam cooler....

Moving fish - rubbermaid?

When moving fish what do you all think of large rubbermade bins? I could fill 4 of these with maybe 15 gallons of water and that would be perfect for transporting all my fish and enough of my existing water for them to not be super-shocked at the new place. Something like this: http://www.rubbermaid...

Martins reply is what I was expecting to have to do. A big bucket, a pump, and some tubing. I feel most confident with pre-mixing the water in this way, but the simplicity of adding water directly to the tank just seems fantastic!!! Shari, I'm moving to Manchester, CT. There is no "water company." I...

but would you add it to the tank, or do you treat the water prior to putting it in the tank?

I'm not sure who to contact to find out about chlorine levels in the water... (or can I test that myself?) I will have to do some digging to find out a phone number for the "water works" or something.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading a warning not to overdose prime.

doing double dose on EVERY water change will build up an extremely high concentration of the stuff over time, wouldn't it?

hmmm... prime is very difficult to measure. "1 cap = 50 gallons"

Not very helpful.

So what do I do, throw a capful into my 75g tank every time I do a water change and hope for the best?

Water changes? :\

My current residence has well water. It is pristine. I don't need to add any dechlorinator etc. I just hook my python up to the sink, empty, and refill. Very simple. I am moving in a couple of weeks. The new place has city water. 20ppm nitrate straight out of the tap! wohoo! (the poor loaches, I hop...

I realize the benefits. I just wish there was a way to do it without needing 2 inlet tubes and 2 spraybars. One reason I want to do this now is that I'll be moving on June 1st. And so, I'd like to have an extra filter ready to go for co-location purposes. In other words, I haven't quite figured out ...
