CONGRATS! That's really cool.
BTW, what do you feed them? Any special food - especially for the little ones?

Congrats, what wonderful news. Can imagine how thrilled you are - and we all are for you too. What amazes me is that this and all other "accidental" spawnings came about by "nature" and the youngs managed to survive WITHOUT human intervention! For me, this is the ultimate in fishkeeping - that the e...

Hey Janma, Welcome to the "Panda Loach" club. Can't tell you about sexing this fish but would like to share some experience with you: 1. Make very sure your tank is fully covered - they can get out even with the slightest opening - found one of mine dead on the floor one morning, a couple of days af...

come on, you live in singapore. I'm sure you're used to strange foods by now. Well, I'm not used to a bunch of loach lovers - keeping them, not eating them - who do not bat an eyelid when your beloved loaches get dumped ALIVE into a pot of boiling soup...! Guess I've learned alot from this forum an...

Stone loaches - A Popular Korean Soup!
I just was just watching a programme on TV - "Dynamic Korea" which basically introduces various Korean dishes, etc. I was horrified when they featured a segment which introduced a popular dish - Stone Loach Soup!! This Korean lady was shown fishing out a bunch of live Stone Loaches (about 5 inch ind...

Algae Problrm
Hi Jim, Beautiful fish! Noticed quite a bit of algae on the plants - have the same problem with one of my tanks (Cardinals, Rummy Nose, Rosy Loach, Sids, Otocintus) Any idea how to get rid of them. - the real black stuff that seems to kill the leaves? My 5 x Otocintus don't seem to do anythin...

Adding New CLs
Hi Gary, Mine are at 4 to 5 inches, so a bit smaller is in order correct? My experience is that you can add almost any sized new CLs to the group, so there is really no need to go smaller than what you have. More is better - if you can provided the space and don't mind the cost. My greatest pleasure...

Dear Mark and Keith?, Sorry but i do not monitor water parameters - never did. I am kind of a "play-by-ear" type fishkeeper and never pretend to be an expert. I just wanted to give my two-cent worth on CLs and hiding places. Having said that, I have set up this 1200L tank with big coral chips years ...

Clown Loach
Dear All, At the risk of starting a contoversy, I would like to suggest that one does not have to have caves and pipes or other hiding places for new Clown Loaches that one introduce into a new tank. I noticed a lot of people complaining that their new acquisitions (Clown Loaches) are always in hidi...

tankmates for clown loach
Perhaps you can consider Red Line Torpedo Barbs (Puntius Denisonii) - i have a shoal of about 20 of them (2 - 5 inch) and they do very well with my CLs. They are beautiful and are interesting because they are quite active at all levels of the tank.

Loaches Native of Thailand
Hi, I find the listing of fresh water fishes found in Thailand (including loaches of course) most interesting: http://fish.mongabay.com/data/Thailand.htm Click on the Scientific Name of each individual fish and you will get a description of their natural habitat, what they feed on, etc. Pangio Kuhli...

Chen, Clown Loaches are NOT found in Thailand. Even in Indonesia it is not a regular food fish - catching them for export for the aquarium trade is the main thing. Even IF they are found in Thailand, you are paying a VERY good price for a live fish, would they grind them up to fish cakes? How much d...
