Re: Need set-up tips for hillstream first timer, Please!
I would not worry about the snails. I have them in all my tanks. They keep the tank clean, warn you of impending doom (go up the glass when it is too warm or oxygen drops) and eat extra food. Maybe your thin guy needs a dose of Levamisole to clear out any parasites? I never see mine eat, and I have ...

Re: A hello post with some questions - and lots of PICS!
Looks like your kuhlies live in Pangio paradise. I am happy you took the oblonga too. He deserves a good life too. May not be as pretty, but just as delightful. I have found Pangios for sale at walmart like they sell Bettas and I have seen them in feeder tanks, so just keep an eye out. They seem to ...

Welcome to our forum. The cycle is probably the most important thing you can do for your fish. The ammonia they produce burns their lungs and they suffocate. The cycling process produces a bacteria that eats ammonia. Once you are fully cycled, add your dithers first (those are swimming fish) and kee...

Re: Histrionica no longer available?

Re: had a tragedy.......
I am very sorry that you lost a beloved fish. I know how terrible that can be. I would say that the stress of putting him in the bucket may have caused the problem. Also may not have been enough oxygen. I add an airstone, if I put fish in a bucket. I never deep clean my tanks, because of the problem...

Beautiful tank and fish. Very nice, and thank you so much for posting pictures. You have really set up a beautiful habitat. Hopefully you will find more fish in the future. So true that the Hillstreams are difficult to find.

Re: Histrionica no longer available?
They do come with so many names, and are also mislabeled. Does make it really had to find them. I have also bought fish that could be Histrionica and grew them up to find out for sure.

Re: Histrionica no longer available?
I think Histrionica are a bit seasonal. I have only found them twice in 5 years. Very nice fish. Better than Yoyos in many ways.
