filtration

lately i have been looking at filters for a possible upgrade. I currently have a an emperor 270 withch is recomended for up to 50 gallons with a flow of 270gph. some canister filters out there are rated for the about same size tanks at 110gph. thats a big difference in specs. why?

the mts will be no problem as i have them in my other planted tanks, horsefaced loaches are a rarity among here so we will see about them.

i live in pennsylvania, our winters here can be not so good for tropical fish. I am not sure how mild your winters are down there in texas. The house is usually kept at about 70 which is pretty nice for hillstream loaches since they come from cool mountain streams. Other loaches such as clowns, yoyo...

I am just interested in providing a better environment I am interested in changing it over to sand(also adding powerheads for more circulation for the loaches). I love the ...

As long as your lamp says plant growth, i dont see any problems. It should be sufficient for your size tank. Keep us updated with pictures in the months too come :)

My smallest red line seems to be back to normal, zooming around and looking for food when i feed. The other two are so-so. T...

Thank you so much Jim. I sure hope they make it. I have only had them for 6 months and they are growing into such beauties. Hopefully they will eat their evening dinner. The heater on a timer sounds like a great idea. I will give it a shot. My first tank has been set up for seven years now with the ...

nice, clean, smooth looking aquarium :D . What kind of lighting do you have and how much? This is crucial to keeping the plants alive and flourishing. The moss, cryptocorynes, valls and anubias will do more than fine with low lighting but i would be concerned about your red leaved plant (i cant tell...
