Yeah, that's the idea is to house the pleco for a little while and then move him to a larger tank in the near future. He's still snall enough to be comfortable in the 10, but will not be for long. The 20 will give me a little more time to cajole the wife into creating more space for a larger tank. I...

Tell me about yoyo loaches

The only loaches I've ever kept have been, obviously, kuhli loaches (with the exception of a weather loach I had in my mom's tank when I was a kid). I'm wanting to set up a new tank at home, a 20 gallon extra high, which would have a 12x10x24 dimension. I've thought about some different loaches and ...

Sadly, that sounds like a kuhli. The one that I have as my avatar has a teensy little scar behind his eye from his curiosity surrounding my filter intake. One day it got too much and he decided to swim up it.

He stays way from it now.

they will get into the filter intake, especially when they are smaller. Mine did and got a nice gash over the eye for his efforts. My intake has a very flexible screen/cover on it, so I used some fishing line and tied around it. this constricted the middle and made the slots too narrow for the kuhli...

To be honest, I'm not sure what her tank is like. I know she said that both the guppies and platys have been spawning, so it may be crowded already. The puffer wouldn't work. She only began keeping fish this year, and did so because she liked the five gallon I set up at work and decided to get into ...

I suggested the bait and remove method to her. She already cleans it out by hand weekly. Them boogers are hard to control sometimes. I'm trying to keep her from going the chemical route. I've read many times that certain fish love to eat snails, so i thought there might be a good compatible choice t...

I have no knowledge of how well kept or stocked the tank is. It is filtered and cleaned from what she says. I've done some research and found that most snail control topics suggest snail eating fish as the ideal method of control. Of those fish, the clown and skunk get the most play, but as I said, ...

I need something peaceful to eat snails

My coworker has a snail problem in her 29 gallon tank. She said it has platys and guppies in it. I've read that clowns are great for snail control, but would get too big for the tank. Skunks are supposed to be great too, but are a bit aggressive. Does anyone know of something that would be good for ...

The tank is a five gallon and has been up for almost a year. It's never had any illness in it. My biggest mistake was in setting it up with decorations that make it hard to clean, but it does make it a haven for shy fish like kuhlis. Also, it's a little overstocked, but I'll fix that soon. Originall...

kuhli has very light coloration

I have three kuhli loaches in my tank. One of the two is very small with dark black bands on a vivid tan body. The other two are both twice the size of the other one and have the same color pattern, but the colors seem more washed out. They aren't as dark. They have a place they like to hide, and wh...
