Sids question for sids owners...

The question of whether or not sids eat snails comes up quite frequently on another aquarium forum where I am a moderator. I do own a group of 42 sids that are in a tank with 3 young clown loaches. I have never seen a sid even remotely interested in eating a snail. Can any of you sids owners tell me...

I honestly don't know anything about Calvus so I cannot comment on whether or not sids can be in the same tank. Sorry.

Hi DJRansome and welcome fellow New Jerseyian! I'm keeping a tank full of sids in dechlorinated tap water, ph 7.6, temp. 78F. The tank is thickly planted with crypts, several varieties of hygrophilia, dwarf sag, taiwan moss and a little pennywort. Sids will do fine in your setup and use the rocks as...

Hi Nancy and thanks! I removed the six sids from the discus tank. Quite the job to try to catch them too! I wanted them to be all together. The ones in the discus tank were older. One was getting extremely fat. They weren't as active in the discus tank because even though the discus are gentle giant...

Loachmom, yes the tall stuff in the back corners is the willow leaf hygro. I don't know where you can get that, you'll have to search around or post a "looking for" thread on a forum or two. I could probably send you a few clippings, I'll be trimming in about another two weeks. You just push the tri...

Thank you all for your kind comments. It has been much fun to try to plan this tank with the hopes that someday I'll be fortunate enough to have some breeding sids. They are wonderful little characters! There's just so very little information anywhere about them. I am prepared to keep a journal abou...

Updated Pics of My Sidthimunki Herd in Their Planted Tank

Time I posted some updated pictures of the growing sids. The plants have filled in nicely. Sids are doing great! The full tank shot looks devoid of fish, don't be fooled.....There's a total of 42 in there . http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm281/pinkertd/IMG_2643.jpg http://i299.photobucket.com/al...

There are 35 sids in that tank, it's a 55G, along with six adult albino cories and a few of their offspring. For some reason it is difficult for me to get a whole tank shot to turn out. It is heavily planted with two pieces of driftwood and rocks scattered about under the plants. They seem to love i...
