Thanks everyone. Marcos, right now I have an EHEIM 2215, an EHEIM 2217, and a 750 gph pond pump with attached sponge filtering the tank. I will be building a new internal filter and it will replace the EHEIMs. It will be attached to 2 pond pumps that push 750 gph each. I have: 5 - Botia dario 6 - Bo...

New loach tank
It has been a while since I have been here. I have been busy building a new tank for my Botia laoches. It is finally done and the loaches are ecstatic! I hope you enjoy! Loach compatibility question
My LFS has some new loaches that I believe are Acanthocobitis rubidipinnis . When I checked the species index the notes indicate that it can be territorial and violent with other tank inhabitants. I was wondering if it would be compatible with dojo loaches or if it would harm them? Thanks for your h...

I just wanted to thank you, Mark, for so clearly articulating what I have thought but was unable to properly say. Just because we as humans can do something doesn't mean we should. If I remember correctly, many of the scientists who helped develop the atom bomb were so upset by its results that they...

Filters
I have a Rena XP3 on my 75 gallon. I find it to be easy to clean, easy to use and very quiet. I was so impressed with its performance that I bought a Rena XP2 for my new 33 gallon. One thing I will say is that you will want to get one size larger than the box recommends (i.e. I could get an XP2 for ...

Fish stores in Edmonton
Most of the stores were pet stores with fish; however, in the last few years Big Al's has come in and a couple of other smaller stores are specializing in freshwater or saltwater fish.

Kuhlis in tank
No, the kuhlis are happy in the 75 gallon. I plan to put Gastromyzon, Sewellia, and/or Beaufortia spp. in the river tank. The species will depend on what my LFS can get in. Loaches do not seem too popular here in Edmonton (yet).

Hello
Hi everyone, I am back into the hobby after being away from it for about 15 years. I started with a 75 gallon tank for ropefish but then one day I spotted a hillstream loach in the pet store... I was fascinated. I started doing research and am in the process of creating a "river tank". When I have c...
