Re: Welcome to the New Loach Forum

..... Failing that, where abouts would I be able to get the equipment to make a river tank? Is it all handmade, or is the equipment sold commecially these days? I have been rehoming my fish because the tank is overstocked and would like to have small fish instead. The Loach is simply in the wrong ty...

Re: Welcome to the New Loach Forum

Hello, long time no see. Is there anyone from the Glasgow area here? I am in the process of rehoming quite a few of my fish (4 of the Goldfish have gone to a nice big indoor pond for example!). I have a solitary 'Hong Kong Plec' (Beufortia Kwechik... something) which was bought originally as an 'Alg...

Cloudy Pop Eye - best medication

Hello there, long time no see and all that! Anyway, the problem I have isn't with a Plec (although a 'Hong Kong' Plec shares the tank, tiny thing it is), but with one of my goldfish. We have had it and the other fish in the tank for about 5 years now, but quite a long time ago now it developed cloud...

Just looked it up, I need Lymnozyme before adding the salt, eh??

Thanks, will see into that along with the tank for the Loach, which seemingly has nothing to do with this, of course.

Well, I will see what I can do then. Actually, I was talking to someone the other night here who was telling me that Glasgow Botanic Gardens are apparently always looking for gold fish for their indoor ponds. Something to bear in mind if I ever want to rehome of any of my bigger gold fish. I think t...

We have had it for over 6 months now, so surely if it were to suffocate, it would have done it by now??!!

The last time I was cleaning the filters of my tank, soon after I had finished, quite a few tiny black snail like creatures appeared. They were only about 1 or 2 mm long, but there were loads of the things!! Haven't seen them since, but i assume they must live in the filter area if that's where they...

Yes I know, I have intended to get a hillstream tank for quite a while (I'd sort of forgotten, I'll admit). I have just started a new job so will have money now, so hopefully I can buy something soon, and get it some company. Problem is space for another tank. I personally, from what I read on here ...

Thanks, that is what I was thinking anyway.

Also, I just noticed a few min ago that the biggest goldfish (the one with the odd looking eyes) has lost some of it's scales and is quite obvious, it isn't just one or two, so I will have to do something sharpish anyway!!

Yes I looked it up in the species bit on this site.

Will it be affected by salt added to the tank as medication for the other aforementioned fishes??

Thanks.

Using salts

Hello I have a large tank with some goldfish, Zebra Danios, and a Plec, which I was told is a Hong Kong Plec (although I know that name can mean more than one type). Anyway, all fish seem to be reasonably healthy, except for one of the goldfish, which has had, what looks like a 'Heamaroid' or simila...

i am sure youcan buy proper aquarium safe sealant in some aquatics shops, so if you look at the tanks and decide the gerbils chewed toomuch, just be carefull to choose the right sealant. and if the tank is HUGE, then make sure there is bracing bars on it, to stop the tank from bowing out. Yes, I wa...

OK. Anyway, I'll get the tanks out tomorrow/today and take a nosey at them. Problem is that I'll be in Northern Ireland next week as part of my course, so unless I do something later today, there will be a 5 day gap. Leave it somewhere (like the bath - we usually only take showers. Or, more likely, ...
