I got another CL

So when I first got my group of six one ended up passing. It has been some time and the group of five are now in the DT gaining a good steady growth. My whole intent is to have a substantail gang of CL and five just doesn't seem right to me.

So, I went to the LFS with the intent of purchasing three ...

I used to have a snail only tank. Someone "generously" gave me some MTS's that quickly got out of hand. I grabbed a handfull and put them in my tank and though the CL tried to get to the snail, they couldn't and ended up giving up. I then had two tanks with MTS

I hope they eat them for you ...

I have a little bit of experience with aquarium salt but not for stress but to treat ich. I didn't use the full dose and mine appeared to be ok, but please dont take my word for it and wait until the more experienced posters write back.

I have yet to treat for internal parasites. I didn't want to treat for the ich that I saw in the beginning plus something else at the same time.

I have read on here what to give, but I don't know if that is available in Ontario. Any suggestions on what I can look for when I go to the LFS?

One Lone CL update

Well this morning when I came downstairs I found my "lone" cl dead. I think he/she must have just gone within the hour because he was starting to loose colour. The others paid no mind to it at all. I thought everything would be ok when I noticed he/she was sleeping with the group last night...

So ...

I had planned on keeping them in there for another 2 weeks..in case the ich is just waiting for me.....

When I just checked on them, the CL in question was in the corner, then swam underneath the log with the gang...and he/she wasn't ousted out...so it may be by choice...I hope.

Besides, I swear ...

Like I said, literally, there is no differance between this one and the others - not even with behaviour (fattening up like the others, going after food without unusual competetion for food, no laboured breathing, same bright colour etc etc).

One lone CL in the corner

Just a quick question. I still have my 6 CL in QT (still no ich to speak of), but have noted something that I wanted to ask about.

The last two days I have noticed that five wedge themself under the wood, while one stays at the opposite end of the tank....he/she is no smaller/thinner etc then any ...

These guys haven't gone into the DT yet. They are strictly in the Qtank at this point. And will be for at least 1-2 more weeks. I learned that lesson long ago (never put CL right in a tank with others right off....ich does have a way of spreading)

I would love to get more CL, however, I ...

Just giving a quick update here:

We have been ich free for a whole week. I still have the heat up, but haven't added any salt since the first couple of days. There probably is only about 1-2tsp worth in there right now.

I believe they have settled since they are starting to squish under the log ...

First off - wow...I would love to have the space for that (still convincing my husband to let me buy a 180g - but his thought is if he can't have a 180 reef - I can't have a 180 loach tank).

Secondly: what do you feed them? They look nice and full!

I did post this last night but I guess I didn't push send!

I had already planned on weaning the salt off. Two nights ago I did a water change and only added half of what I should have added. Last night I did the same.

Tonight I will add only 1/4 of what I should add (for tomorrow as well). There ...

I am aerating too. I think maybe too much...they seem to be moving without swimming (more of a gliding across the bottom). They don't seem to mind cause they do have something in there to squish into to make them comfortable.

I think the first med we used - a couple of years ago - was Aquari-Sol ...

Great thanks,

Today there are still no signs of ich. They are active, eating, and clicking! All three of which I am exstatic about. I have not yet been able to pick out the leader and haven't seen any squables to figure out who is in the running - they are all the same length give or take a cm or ...

Thanks for the welcome.

I haven't seen spots since those couple. There are no signs of stress on their breathing/scales.

I have an aquaclear running as well as a Koralia 1 aimed at the surface which is providing some nice movement in the tank.

I am really nervous to stop the treatment...though I ...
